The Wealth Management Learning & Coaching (WML&C) team in the Retail Experience Strategy & Risk (RESR) organization is accountable for developing and coaching Schwab sales professionals.  The Wealth Management Learning & Development (WML&D) team, an organization within WML&C, is responsible for creating and delivering innovative learning solutions to equip Schwab talent across the branch network and specialized organizations to provide exceptional service to our clients.

We are always searching for new ways to deliver industry-leading wealth management experiences to our clients and provide services that add more value for our clients. This starts with ensuring our people, particularly our new hires, are equipped to serve clients the Schwab way.

Our Team:

FC Academy (FCA) is one of the early talent programs in the WML&D organization.  We recruit top talent – including recent college graduates and career changes – and provide a comprehensive 15-month development program designed to prepare them for success as sales professionals within the Branch Network and other business development roles at Schwab.

The Director, FC Academy of Talent Experience is responsible for the participants’ experience during new hire onboarding, licensing, and the Investor Development rotations of the program. You will be responsible for partnering with Program Management, HR, and Retail Service business leaders to design and deliver high-impact initiatives focused on service talent recruiting, new hire training and licensing, ongoing training (including training needed for regulatory changes and strategic initiatives), wealth management training, leadership development (e.g., manager training), career pathing, diversity and inclusion. The role is accountable for the effectiveness of these initiatives and corresponding impact on strategic business objectives (e.g., hiring numbers/ class fill rates, new hire ramp, attrition/ retention, license pass rates, employee satisfaction).  To be successful in this role, you will leverage a “can-if” mindset, to innovate, influence, implement, and drive talent activities while collaborating with key partners and stakeholders. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with HR Talent Acquisition organization, establish and execute the Talent Acquisition strategic roadmap (e.g., profile for service talent, recruiting source strategy, partnerships with universities/colleges/communities, interviewing practices).
  • Create a compelling recruiting story that demonstrates the power and opportunity for long-term career growth toward FC role.
  • Develop and maintain internal career pathing framework within Branch Network and other centralized sales organizations. Included in this is the development of quarterly/ annual performance objectives/ expectations at different levels of the organization.
  • Collaborate with program management and Retail Service leaders on development, implementation, delivery, and measurement of the new FC Academy program, employee onboarding/ training/ licensing/ ongoing development strategies maximizing employee potential and build capabilities needed to achieve organizational priorities.
  • Develop and deliver specific training/ skill building sessions in response to regulatory/ compliance driven changes as well as strategic initiatives.
  • Establishes and maintains strategic partnerships with key Retail business leaders (e.g., Compliance, Risk and Supervision, Strategy) and HR partners (Talent Acquisition, Talent Solutions, Compensation & Licensing)
  • Deliver a consistent and transparent career path roadmap to attract & recruit high impact talent and lead new onboarding efforts for four cohorts annually
  • Oversee proven licensing process to help new hires meet Condition of Employment (COE) to obtain SIE, Series 7, and Series 66 within two attempts while maintain low attrition
  • Ensure all training is in line with industry regulations and compliance standards. Program and people management required
  • Coordinate with SMEs and Branch Leaders to facilitate the Career Advancement Process at graduation to IC and FCP roles within the Branch Network and other centralized sales organizations
  • Manage all FCA cohort travel experiences including hotel relationships, T&E, etc. while maintaining overall program budget (approximately 12 cohort trips annually)
  • Collaborating with SMEs and leaders to ensure alignment between learning programs and business goals
  • Monitor and track program progress and manage performance expectations
  • Function as the subject matter expert on a broad range of licensing, EDGE, advice, financial planning and wealth management solutions, teaching professionals how to effectively deliver impactful outcomes for clients.
  • Conducting regular needs assessments to identify skills gaps and training requirements

What you have


Required:

  • Position requires BA/BS
  • Position requires Series 63, Series 7, Series 9/10
  • Demonstrated skills in coaching, training, and people leadership.
  • Minimum 10 years’ financial services industry/sales experience with at least 5 years’ experience in a leadership role
  • Excellent communication skills & ability to partner with others to create tangible action plans
  • Additionally, candidates must possess exceptional written communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills. Ability to establish rapport with and influence Schwab colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and implement a clear, focused learning and development strategy for WML&D Director
  • The ability to travel (15-20%) to assigned centers (mainly Westlake) is required

Preferred:

  • MS/MBA preferred.
