Schwab’s Wealth & Advice Solutions (WAS) organization is tasked with driving our strategy to create an integrated Wealth and Advice Solutions business and prioritize investments in these areas. We have consolidated our organization, leadership, expertise, and execution efforts with one roadmap for wealth management at Schwab.

Within WAS, The Director, Alternative Investments Relationship Management, will be a part of the Investment & Offer Solutions (IOS) group.  IOS is a team of curious, optimistic, and gritty employees responsible for managing our proprietary Separately Managed Account products and third-party product marketplaces (Alternative Investments, Managed Accounts, Mutual Funds, ETFs, Structured Products, Fixed Income, Annuities & Insurance, and 529). Our mission is to provide a positive experience for Schwab clients that invest in these products, while growing a key revenue stream.

The Director be responsible for managing initiatives and relationships to expand the products and capabilities we provide our RIA clients and Retail clients. The Director will serve as the primary external contact managing high-value fund manager and third party relationships to onboard funds on Schwab’s platforms, and navigate how to work with Schwab.

In addition to supporting the growth of existing product platforms and expanding third-party relationships/funds on these platforms, this individual will be tasked with delivering the strategic relationship roadmap to expand our partnerships with key external partners (asset managers, fintechs).

Given the rapid growth in client and advisor demand for this asset class, this is a high-impact role that requires the ability to maintain close partnership with a number of internal and external stakeholders.

The Director will work closely with internal partners (e.g., product leaders, research partners, and leaders across Investor Services, Advisor Services, Operations, Technology, Legal and Compliance) and external partners (e.g., asset managers, fintechs, etc.) to ensure strategic alignment and progress on priorities to support our clients. The Director will be energetic and enthusiastic about serving clients and our business partners, activating strategies, completing initiatives, and financial services broadly – with a particular focus on Alternative Investments.

What you have


Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 7-10 years’ relevant experience managing complex initiatives in the financial services industry.
  • Alternative Investment product knowledge, key players, and industry experience.
  • Experience negotiating / interacting with external and internal parties and the utilization of both assertiveness and diplomacy to reach favorable outcomes.
  • Highly resourceful, adaptable, and creative problem solver, who can thrive in a dynamic environment, solve issues with urgency as they arise, and drive progress in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong communication skills: articulate, clear and compelling in speech and writing.
  • A positive attitude, enthusiasm, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in Alternative Investment fund operations, capital raising, or alternative investment platform development at a large intermediary
  • Demonstrated experience in a relationship management role managing complex relationships
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing product partnerships in the financial services space
  • A curious thinker with strong business judgment and analytical skills who, through grit, can solve problems and keep driving work forward
  • Strong project management skills, including attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and work efficiently (independently and with teams) to meet tight deadlines
  • High degree of comfort dealing with ambiguity, motivated to drive results while operating autonomously in a dynamic and fast-moving work environment
  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability developing materials and effectively presenting to and persuading executive audiences
  • Dynamic relationship building, partnership, and collaborative skills
  • Licenses: Series 7 and 24 required (may be obtained within 120 days of employment)
