Wealth and Asset Management (WAM) Engineering is an organization within Schwab Technology Services aligned to support the technology needs of Schwab Asset Management (SAM), Wealth & Advice Solutions (WAS), the Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR), and Third-Party Platform teams. WAM Engineering Technology Operations, an organization within WAM Engineering, provides Technology Operations support to WAS which is a growth area for Schwab.

You will play a critical role in supporting Schwab Wealth Advisory which is focused on high-net worth and ultra-high net worth retail investors. Supported business functions span Schwab’s Wealth and Investment Solutions including Schwab Wealth Advisory.  You will be working with a team of talented and highly motivated technologists that strive to ensure applications and process compliment Schwab’s WAS business, and their clients benefit from high availability Service Level Agreements for our applications. Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, communication, negotiation, curiosity, and ability to learn technologies quickly are key qualities for success in this role.

This role will support the future growth of the WAS business. As the Senior Manager of Technology Operations, you will develop a strategic vision for supporting 900+ advisors with efficient Technology Operations processes.  The goal is to ensure our business partners have reliable systems to drive business growth.  You will oversee a team of Technologists and be responsible for ensuring the team executes your vision by developing consistent and predictable monitoring frameworks (health checks, predictive modeling, Incident detection and Identification, etc), implement best practices, and provide reporting metrics to both Technology and Business stakeholders.

What you have


Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technology field

• 10+ years providing leadership to a team of technologists leading projects, developing technical strategy, and mentoring engineers

• 10+ years of experience in software development roles with a focus on reducing manual operational tasks through automation

• 10 + years of experience implementing software development engineering best practices as well as DevOps, CI/CD, Scrum, and Kanban

• Experience defining a strategic vision for improving production reliability and presenting the vision to senior leadership with frequent updates on status

• Experience managing a 5 + million-dollar budget (Resources, Software licenses, etc)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science or related technology field
  • Experience collaborating with various roles across a Technology Organization (development, Network, Server, etc)
  • Adherence to Risk and Compliance controls to minimize business risk
  • Wealth Management and/or Financial Services industry experience
