In Compliance, we help our business partners achieve their strategic priorities by promoting principles and practices that build client trust and safeguard the integrity of the firm.  We are currently offering the opportunity for dynamic and engaging data analytics professional to join our Compliance Analytics team as an Analytics Developer Senior Manager.

Compliance Analytics team partners with Compliance stakeholders to design, build and implement data-driven solutions that help achieve their strategic priorities in identifying potential regulatory and business risks to protect our customer and the firm.  The team utilizes data, analytics, and data intelligence tools to enhance process efficiency and oversight coverage within Compliance.  The Analytics Developer Senior Manager will report to the Senior Manager (PL), Head of Compliance Analytics, and focus on creating effective influence over design, development and implementation of analytics, process and delivery to support accurate, complete, and timely compliance reporting and monitoring needs.  This position will work with a variety of Compliance stakeholders and enterprise-wide partners to implement innovative data solutions and functionality that yield direct business value.

Success in this role means your day-to-day efforts will result in automation of business processes and creation of data-driven product solutions for Compliance partners and senior leadership through utilization of data extraction methods from Schwab internal sources, analysis, and visualization. Your work will help identify opportunities for automation and new or improved data-driven solutions, align with strategic direction and produce data-driven products, all of which fulfills the mission of the Compliance at Schwab. You will demonstrate curiosity and a thirst to gather and understand business data and processes that assist in uncovering trends and opportunities for ongoing initiatives, while overcoming challenges, addressing risks, and finding sustainable solutions.  Your experience and acumen using automation, analytical concepts and statistical techniques—including but not limited to hypothesis development, designing tests/experiments, model development—to develop actionable recommendations, contribute to company growth efforts, increase revenue, and achieve other key business outcomes is necessary for your success.

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Lead/manage cross-functional projects using advanced data modeling and analysis techniques to discover insights that will guide strategic decisions and uncover optimization opportunities;
  • Build, develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards and performance metrics that support key business decisions;
  • Design and build technical processes to address business issues;
  • Design and deliver reports and insights that analyze business functions and key operations and performance metrics;
  • Communicate results and business impacts of insight initiatives to internal stakeholders;
  • Document technical/business requirements, testing scenarios, user acceptance, data lineage and other knowledge-retention materials;
  • Manage partner relationships to help proactively identify automation opportunities and needs, and provide ongoing support and communication;
  • Analyze processes to identify automation improvement opportunities;
  • Review and refine proposals to optimize, improve and automate business processes to deliver the desired outcome;
  • Lead the development of Robotics Process Automation (“RPA”) and other Power App proposals, and maintain technical documentation;
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy RPA, Power App, and Excel automation, documenting workflows and requirements;
  • Build, develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards and performance metrics support that support key business decisions;
  • Provide routine technical support on complex automation events in a timely manner;
  • Provide regulatory and ad-hoc query support in a consistent and timely manner;
  • Support existing automation/processes and implementing change requirements as part of a structured change control process;
  • Mentor junior members of the team on automation, RPA and other process efficiency products;
  • Build data query, analytics and visualization products for Compliance stakeholders to manage demand;
  • Support Senior Manager (PL) and Director with mission and shaping of the team’s overall achievements.

What you have


The ideal candidate should have a strong background with statistical analytics techniques and programming skills, excellent communication skills and knowledge about financial services. The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field that require heavy uses of analytics, such as statistics, economics, finance, financial engineering, applied and computational mathematics, operation research, engineering, physics, or similar scientific fields and a minimum of 6 years of quantitative business analytics, with demonstrated ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and deliver strategy recommendation using predictive analytics; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field that require heavy uses of analytics, such as statistics, economics, finance, financial engineering, applied and computational mathematics, operation research, engineering, physics, or similar scientific fields and a minimum of 9 years of quantitative business analytics, with demonstrated ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and deliver strategy recommendation using predictive analytics.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proficiency and experience with Robotic Process Automation and tools (experience with UiPath and PowerAutomate is a plus);
  • Proficiency with Tableau, Power Apps and Microsoft office suite including using Power Point to tell visual stories translated from or with data;
  • Proficiency with SQL, SAS, Python/R to perform effective querying involving multiple tables and subqueries (experience with Alteryx and Big Data platform is a plus);
  • Ability to self-mange responsibilities and have excellent business communication skills including presentations and demos;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and deliver on-time along with prioritization of time-sensitive assignments;
  • Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities, with text mining skills;
  • Self-starter with agility to adapt to the changing data infrastructure and strong sense of corporate data management initiatives;
  • Good understanding of the software development lifecycle, governance principles and documentation;
  • Experience in mentoring junior staff members.
