The Charles Schwab Corporation (CSC) Compliance Department coordinates the Company’s compliance efforts, performs an advisory, monitoring, testing and education role to support Management’s supervisory responsibility and strives to achieve compliance with financial services industry rules, regulations and policies for the Company. At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together. We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on-site.

Corporate Compliance administers the Company’s Compliance Program, which includes multiple regulated entities, including its broker-dealer, investment advisors and bank and trust companies, among others. With this evolution, the Company’s Compliance Program is increasingly sophisticated and the responsibilities of Compliance Reporting (CORE) have evolved significantly. CORE is responsible for a wide range of Corporate Compliance needs. Alongside our production of quarterly reports, we coordinate with Managing Directors, Chief Compliance Officers and other department professionals through the preparation, delivery and documentation of risk committee meeting materials.

The Compliance Reporting, Communications and Policy (CRCP) team is seeking a Manager for CORE, reporting to the team’s Sr. Manager People Leader. The Manager will assist in delivering clear, concise, accurate reporting to Schwab’s Executive Risk Committees, Senior Leadership, Corporate and Bank Compliance Risk Committees and Compliance Leadership, which is a crucial component of effective risk management at Schwab. CORE’s mission is to support and ensure the accomplishment of this objective by aggregating and synthesizing reporting content, designing/conducting an efficient and effective reporting process and providing critical insights to Compliance, Management, Risk Management Committees and the Board of Directors. The CORE team also ensures the effective operation of the Company’s Compliance Risk Committees, including the Compliance, Bank, Personal Trust and Fiduciary and Conflicts of Interest Risk Committees. Additionally, the CORE team designs and ensures effective execution of the Compliance risk metrics program. As a Manager on the CORE team, you may take on a role(s) within any of the Corporate Compliance Program’s initiatives.

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following activities:

  • Assist in the preparation of Management Reporting materials to communicate significant compliance risks and issues to the Corporate Chief Compliance Officer, Corporate and Bank Compliance Risk Committees and Subcommittees, Global Risk Committee, Bank Management Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee within the second line team.

  • Participate in the maintenance of standards appropriate for Management reporting and metrics.

  • Collaborate closely within Compliance and other second line risk organizations to obtain materials, guide colleagues to ensure they provide important data/information in a timely manner and assist in the review of materials with effective challenge and feedback for key improvement areas.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships throughout Compliance, Legal Services and Corporate Risk Management. Provide internal support for ongoing initiatives within the enterprise compliance team.

  • Display and use knowledge of financial services industry oversight bodies, guidelines, rules and regulations to accurately identify and position the impact of Compliance risk to the Company.

  • Be an advocate and resource with respect to coverage of the CORE team by driving awareness and understanding with various partners to consistently manage the Company’s Compliance risk.

  • Assist in developing performance indicators to measure key aspects of the Compliance Program using visualization, analysis and calibration to enhance current metrics and observe inventory of important, useful and, where possible, forward-looking metrics to manage Compliance risk.
