Wealth and Asset Management (WAM) Engineering is an organization within Schwab Technology Services aligned to support the technology needs of Schwab Asset Management (SAM), Wealth & Advice Solutions (WAS), the Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR), and Third-Party Platform teams. WAM Engineering Investments, an organization within WAM Engineering, is dedicated to providing support to SAM’s front office team. 

This newly created role will support the future growth of the SAM business. As a Senior Manager, Business Systems Analysis Lead, you will partner with business stakeholders and development teams to identify gaps in business requirements and provide technical expertise for new and current systems. You will deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.

You will play a critical role in supporting key stakeholders across the SAM organization, which is focused on Schwab’s proprietary ETF, Mutual Fund, and SMA products. Supported business functions span SAM’s equity portfolio management and equity trading teams. You will be working with a team of talented and highly motivated technologists that strive to make technology a strategic differentiator for Schwab’s SAM business and their clients.

To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications

  • A university degree in a technical program, such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems. Advanced degrees and/or other professional certifications are a plus
  • Working experience with Schwab processes and systems
  • Hands-on industry experience gained through a complex financial services business analyst role
  • Experience in financial industry-specific technologies, such as FIX messaging, market data APIs, and investment management systems (such as Aladdin, Charles River, Vestmark, etc)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical processes to business stakeholders and to create actionable user stories for the software developers
  • Documented experience writing SQL queries and understanding of complex data structures of financial data (security master, etc)
  • Ability to test new code and provide constructive feedback to the development team
  • Experience supporting portfolio managers and/or traders across third party and custom applications and being able to troubleshoot complex issues encountered
  • Recent experience working in Agile (Scrum or Kanban) teams, as both a practitioner and an adherent, using Jira/Confluence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of SDLC and DevOps
  • Strong customer focus with a sense of ownership and determination to drive solutions in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to work independently and also collaborate with all types of stakeholders, both technical and business, peers, and leaders
  • Ability work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and learn new technologies

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
