We are looking for a Quantitative Research Platform Analyst who is passionate about technology and the experiences it can create to join our Research and Analytics development team within the Wealth and Asset Management (WAM) Engineering organization. (WAM) Engineering is a part of Schwab Technology Services that is responsible for Schwab's wealth, advice, investment management, and research platforms. Everything that WAM Engineering builds serves Schwab’s mission of helping clients reach their financial goals.

This is an opportunity to work as a hands-on business analyst focused on a variety of innovative quantitative research and investment initiatives.  In this role you will work with business and technology partners to understand the needs of clients, researchers and portfolio managers.  You will also evaluate financial datasets, interpret research code bases, and document detailed functional requirements with the goal of creating reliable, scalable, and advanced solutions that will help our clients take ownership of their financial futures. The investment models, analytics, and reporting products you will support are leveraged by multiple organizations across Schwab for portfolio management, client advice, and product development. What you have


To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, Masters or PhD preferred
  • Hands on business and data analysis experience gained through 3+ years of software and platform development within the investment management domain
  • Working experience required with Schwab systems and processes
  • Experience with application development technologies used for quantitative model research and development (e.g. Python or R) as well as business intelligence tools (e.g. Excel and Power BI)
  • Knowledge of quantitative investment processes and experience working with financial datasets (e.g., Bloomberg, Morningstar, FactSet)
  • Detailed understanding of asset class definitions, asset allocation and portfolio models, investment vehicles, risk management, and optimization
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL database technologies (e.g. MongoDB, BigTable, DynamoDB).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFA Charterholder
  • Language proficiency to interpret text and financial data in international markets (particularly Europe, Asia)
  • Ability to work independently and also collaborate with all types of stakeholders, both technical and business, peers, and leaders
  • Ability work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and learn new technologies
  • Strong customer focus with a sense of ownership and determination to drive solutions in a collaborative environment

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
