About the team:

Charles Schwab’s Operational Services team is partnering with our Digital Assets team to expand our retail product offering to include spot crypto trading for retail clients. This new offer will complement an existing extensive range of brokerage and banking products, serving a critical role in maintaining Schwab’s place as a leading financial services firm, providing accessibility and award-winning education on cutting-edge products and services for retail clients.

Within Operational Services, the Crypto Operations team will support the operational requirements of the spot cryptocurrency offering, conducting oversight of execution activities related to new account enrollment, trading, transfers and money movements, reconciliations & corrections, and reporting.

Job summary:

This role involves collaboration and cross-functional work across multiple business lines, engaging partners at all levels, and leading projects and functions to operationalize our retail cryptocurrency offer strategy. The Senior Manager role will report to the Director Crypto Operations and will be responsible for the following:

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to help drive the formation of key operational processes supporting the crypto business including the design of infrastructure and tools with an emphasis on deposits/withdrawals, risk analysis and on-chain activity.
  • Assist with efforts to build the operational support team.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the digital asset space and uniquely position yourself as an invaluable subject matter authority as it pertains to operational activities.
  • Partner with various leaders and working groups in Digital Assets and Operational Services to understand the specialized operational environment and manage multiple complex projects that implement our cryptocurrency offer strategy.
  • Improve the client experience consistent with Schwab’s ‘through the client’s eyes’ strategy by iterating enhancements to technology, service, and processes to optimize performance
  • Post product launch, this role will manage multiple critical business functions for the cryptocurrency operations including transfers, risk analysis, and various on-chain support while also providing support for other operational activities as needed
  • Identify inefficiencies in performance and prepare materials on operational performance, issues, and improvement opportunities to influence senior leadership decision making.
  • Manage and coach a team to maximize employee performance.

What you have


Required:

  • 7+ years of full-time work experience, including leading teams and projects relating to cryptocurrency, particularly in standing up digital asset operations functions.
  • Robust knowledge of the technology and processes required to support digital assets and cryptocurrency, with a focus on various commonly traded asset types, and on-chain product experiences across multiple blockchain networks.
  • Established history of developing operational processes around key aspects of on-chain products like scam prevention, allowlisting, transaction monitoring/investigation, and more.
  • Demonstrated ability to gain alignment on business strategies and drive progress (e.g. developing materials to tell stories and make recommendations; effectively presenting to executive audiences) on multiple priorities and relationships simultaneously.
  • Expertise in maintaining a perspective on the evolution digital asset markets, regulations, technologies, and best practices to inform opportunities to improve product and service performance.
  • Experience managing wallets, keys, signing operational activities a plus.
  • Familiarity engaging with regulatory audiences including examinations and audits.
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, with sense of urgency and proactiveness.
  • Analyzes issues objectively, thinking through all potential impacts, and capitalizes on opportunities to operate more efficiently, improve performance and support ongoing offer evolution.
  • Flexibility in adapting to a fluid and rapidly changing environment with a willingness to support ad-hoc tasks where necessary.
  • Be part of a 24/7 on-call rotation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to generate insights, both quantitative and qualitative.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with experience managing and coaching cross-functional teams or with direct reports.
  • Intermediate user of PowerPoint and data analysis tools (e.g. Excel).

Preferred: 

  • Prior experience directly managing a team
