The Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR) is a division of Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. (CS&Co). SCFR’s objective is to provide top-quality research, timely market insights, and practical guidance to help investors make better and informed decisions. Based on parameters developed by Schwab, SCFR provides research and evaluates managers for the Schwab Managed Account Select® wrap fee program and creates and monitors the Schwab mutual fund and ETF recommendable lists.

We currently have an opening for a Senior Investment Due Diligence Analyst on the qualitative investment due diligence team. The senior investment due diligence analyst’s main responsibilities will be evaluating, monitoring, and selecting separately managed accounts for our Managed Account Select platform as well as mutual funds and ETFs for our suite of Schwab recommendable lists.

The role will be responsible for being the lead analyst for certain mutual fund, ETF, and SMA strategies and categories. The position also includes responsibility for the qualitative portions of certain investment strategy searches and for ongoing investment due diligence, as well as writing and presenting investment memos and presentations to investment working groups and committees. The candidate may also assist in the analysis of alternative investments within the Schwab Alternative Investments Select platform, as needed. The position works collaboratively with other groups within Schwab and the candidate must be a strong communicator, both verbally and in writing. Analytical skills are also highly critical for this role. The successful candidate will be able to interpret quantitative information (ratings, performance, etc.), identify areas of possible risks in strategies, formulate and deliver questions for investment managers in order to identify a strategy’s strengths and weaknesses, and be able to communicate the results of the research clearly in writing and in person.

What you have


  • Extensive experience in qualitative investment research or due diligence in liquid products (separately managed accounts, mutual funds, and ETFs)
  • BA/BS degree required
  • MBA or other advanced degree in finance a plus
  • CFA or progress towards, highly desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience with Morningstar Direct is a plus
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Series 7 license or willingness to obtain the Series 7 within first six months of employment

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
