The Solution Application Architecture team working for the Office of the CTO is looking for a Cloud and Strategic Programs Solution Architect who will push forward Schwab’s multi-year transformation vision and driving the strategy for the most critical and impactful programs at Schwab including Cloud.  This is an elite team of senior architects who understand end-to-end application architecture, cloud and can help shape the future direction for Schwab. You'll work closely with business, product, and technology partners to translate results-oriented business vision and requirements into innovative solution architectures that enable Schwab's highest priority objectives and align to both the technology strategy and target-state architecture. The right individual is a proactive, self-starter that enjoys and thrives when connecting people and technology to solve sophisticated problems at-scale. You will architect and lead some of the most critical programs for Schwab that require the integration of Cloud and multiple technologies and teams across the organization. You will be a member of the Solution Architecture team in the office of the CTO for Schwab. The team creates the Generate AI and cloud standards and patterns for the company that will enable scale, agility, and new capabilities for the company. What you are good at

• Be able to successfully Lead, Design, architect and deliver some of the most critical and complex programs for the company including Cloud and Gen AI or ML
• Prior Experience building architecture and implementing Gen AI applications, LLM (Large Language Models) and Prompt Engineering
• Ability to drive through, directly and through influence, efficient solution strategy, with agility and leadership skills which engineers recognize and respect.
• Desire and ability to understand diverse business domains and develop architectures that meet the current and anticipated business needs across a broad set of partners.
• Provide advice and guidance to other architects and team leads regarding technical and design decisions.
• Provide direction, guidance, definition, evaluation, and facilitation for the development of current and future architecture.
• Design for both functional and non-functional qualities, including availability, resiliency, security, privacy, etc.
• Review, advise, and provide feedback on architectures produced within and outside the team.
• Lead the end-to-end solution design and architecture for key company initiatives.
• Present architecture and innovative ideas to executive leadership for the purposes of alignment and key decision making

What you have

Required Qualifications

• A min of 5 years of application architecture or solution architecture experience and passion for Technology
• Prior experience and knowledge of Gen AI and Public Cloud, certification is a Plus.
• Ability to own architecture, including strategic direction and presentation of a vision for the future of the end-to-end Schwab Technology platform.
• Ability to drive through, directly and through influence, efficient solution strategy, with agility and leadership skills which engineers recognize and respect.
• Desire and ability to understand diverse business domains and develop architectures that meet the current and anticipated business needs across a broad set of partners.
• Ability to evaluate new technologies and stay ahead of industry trends.
• Good judgment and the ability to handle high pressure situations.
• Experience with and knowledge of common Architecture patterns (e.g. microservices, Cloud Patterns, Dependency injection, Event sourcing, etc.).
• Experience addressing operational and non-functional concerns (e.g. horizontal & vertical scalability, performance, maintainability, load distribution, resilience and recovery, etc.).
• Experience with Cloud Native (12-Factor) Architecture and Infrastructure Patterns.
• Generative AI and or Machine learning experience and prompt engineering experience
• Ability to devise, develop and apply innovative technology to solutions that would benefit our clients.
• Ability to influence and effect changes that have broad and long-term impact on the firm.
• Refined presentation and communication skills and experience interfacing and communicating effectively with both engineers and executives.
• A strong software engineering and/or prior development background
