Schwab Asset Management (SAM), with more than $1 trillion in assets under management, is one of the industry’s largest providers of mutual funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts. As a part of Client Communications and Product Services & Solutions (CCPSS), the Content Solutions Team is responsible for developing content and managing consistent editorial style and voice in communications related to SAM products and services, including sales requests and board and committee materials. Our audience consists of existing and potential institutional and retail investors, financial advisers, and board members.

The Sr. Manager, Financial Writer, is responsible for editing and writing for a variety of purposes, emphasizing strict editorial brand standards. In addition to working with members of the high-performing CCPSS Team, the Financial Writer will work with the broader SAM team, such as Product and Innovation business partners, subject matters experts, senior leaders, and legal and compliance personnel, to deliver accurate and polished content to our most important audiences.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Meticulous copy editing across platforms, including select board materials, committee materials, requests for proposal, financial product narratives, and educational and reporting pieces. This includes detailed proofreading for voice, messaging, grammar, spelling, format, structure, and punctuation.
  • Employing strong project management skills to routinely collaborate with and coordinate multiple business partners and subject matter experts.
  • Developing an understanding of Schwab Asset Management products, audiences, business goals and objectives.
  • Writing copy on occasion, but typically edit others’ work, and guiding content developers with feedback and recommendations to refine copy and optimize quality.
  • Developing, implementing, and managing timelines and requirements for a project or group.
  • Assisting with maintenance and application of editorial style guide.
  • Collaborating with other members of the Content Solutions Team to drive innovation that embraces technology and revolutionizes processes.

What you have


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, English, marketing, or related field
  • 7+ years’ experience copy editing / writing in financial services or another regulated industry
  • Financial services experience, preferably within asset management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, a passion for consistency in content, and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver feedback and recommendations in a clear, professional, and credible manner
  • Confidently communicating with individual partners, groups, and senior leaders
  • Coordinating multiple projects / personnel simultaneously
  • Operating in a deadline-driven, regularly fast-paced environment

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
