We are looking for an Application Engineer to join the Trading team in the delivery of high throughput, low latency solutions.  The role will be part of one of our Sprint based Agile teams that is currently playing a dual role of supporting the existing Trading platform while building out our to-be architecture.  We will be building Schwab's future trading platform and you will design, build, and deploy software to support all of Schwab’s trading.  We work hard and have fun doing it!

  • Implements and enhance the testing automation framework for web services, APIs, and web-based applications.
  • Develop, execute, and maintain automation tests cases and test scenarios - for high volume, low latency web and backend applications.
  • Ensure automation is constantly running, analyzing, documenting, and promptly reporting on failures.
  • Partner with scrum team members to build out automation solutions to advance Schwab SDLCs and meeting critical business objectives.
  • Write and execute performance and load tests for multiple applications to measure scalability and stability.
  • Design test cases and test plans for given acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate with scrum team members, Product Owners and Scrum Masters to integrate project plans, testing schedules, and metrics reporting.
  • Understand the application architecture, hosting infrastructure, interaction with dependency apps and complete feature workflow to assess all the risk around integration points before developing good test cases.
  • Provide complete testing coverage including manual testing when automation is not possible
  • Evaluates business and software industry trends and suggests improvements to processes, products, and services

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations

What you have


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field OR related practical experience
  • 10+ years of enterprise technology related experience in application development using C# .NET / .NET core
  • Strong knowledge in design patterns with hands on experience
  • Experience in messaging and services-based software, preferably in a cloud platform using RabbitMQ, Kafka or equivalent technologies
  • Experience working in any cloud-based technologies like GCP, PCF or AWS etc.,
  • Experience and strong fundamental knowledge in one or more types of database management systems like Aerospike, SQL Server, and MongoDB etc.,
  • Experience/knowledge with SCM (GitHub, GitHub Actions, Atlassian tools Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, etc.) and DevOps tool suite is preferred
  • Experience with test driven development preferred (Nunit, EasyMock etc.,)
  • Experience with troubleshooting Production issues through analysis of logs (Splunk), AppDynamics, ITRS, dashboards and metrics.
  • Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum Experience adopting or managing continuous Integration and continuous delivery concepts and frameworks
