The Central Finance group provides forecasting and decision support for business partners across the Finance organization, including the CFO. It serves as the central consolidator for many of the functions within Finance, serving as the “hub” of the organization. Within Central Finance, the Expense Forecasting team is primarily responsible for forecasting expense across the entire company. The Expense Forecasting team plays a crucial role in helping senior leadership understand our future financial picture in order to make key decisions.

This position plays a significant role in providing senior management with a consolidated short-term and long-term expense forecast on a regular basis, managing TM1 (IBM Cognos) cubes, preparing and presenting forecast results, ad hoc analysis and leading coordination of enterprise finance organization internal risk controls. What you’ll do:

  • Work with business partners and team members to consolidate results, risks and opportunities, and variance explanations
  • Execute Schwab’s total company monthly expense close reporting
  • Provide FP&A business support for one or more of Schwab’s enterprises, which will include business partnering, analytical reporting and forecasting
  • Synthesize and communicate consolidated expense picture and outlook for CFO’s monthly Close and Forecast meeting
  • Lead the coordination and facilitation of Enterprise Finance’s internal risk controls to ensure teams are in compliance and meeting governance milestones
  • Prepare presentations that summarize key results and findings of the forecasts
  • Initiate and deliver ad hoc analyses of key expense trends, drivers and metrics to drive decisions
  • Support development and maintenance of finance transformation projects, including further automation of both labor and non-labor forecasting

To ensure that we fulfill our promise of “challenging the status quo,” this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of financial planning & analysis (FP&A) experience
  • Understanding of corporate finance theory, financial markets, financial statement analysis and risk controls
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel skills, with an understanding of financial modeling best practices
  • Knowledge of financial services industry, along with finance & accounting principles and concepts
  • Challenger mindset and relationship building skills
  • Sound business judgement and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Proactive self-starter and team player who can work well in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
  • Proven superior analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work as a team to deliver results

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of IBM Cognos TM1 or similar database/OLAP tool preferred
