In Enterprise & Operational Risk Management (EORM), our purpose is to govern, oversee, and continually improve Charles Schwab’s enterprise & operational risk programs through supporting and challenging business partners and raising risk awareness to improve decision making.  We look to manage enterprise & operational risk impacts across Charles Schwab and its subsidiaries/affiliates by fostering a risk culture consistent with the leadership values of the company. Reporting to the Director of Risk Application and Data Enablement (RADE), this role will work closely with other members of Corporate Risk Management (CRM) as they execute key functions that includes engaging business partners and oversight groups with help and guidance in fulfilling their responsibilities with emphasis placed on CRM technology and application strategy. 

What you’ll do

As a member of the RADE team, you will partner with CRM executive leadership and application subject matter experts to design, develop and execute a technology and application strategy for CRM that aims to enhance scale, efficiency, and adaptability across its operations and modernizes risk management while aligning technology investments with business priorities.

You will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Design and execute the CRM technology and application strategy
  • Engage with CRM groups to optimize technology used in risk management activities including identification of redundancies and opportunities for application consolidation
  • Establish, implement and monitor a clear framework for funding decisions based on business impact, risk exposure, while following product and portfolio management policies and standards
  • Design and execute a governance structure to promote cross-functional collaboration and clear accountability
  • Implement role-based responsibilities to enhance decision-making and project execution
  • Engage with CRM groups to align with current agile methodologies and identify opportunities to accelerate development cycles and improve time-to-market
  • Build a resilient technology strategy capable of adapting to evolving regulatory, market, and organizational demands for CRM
  • Build relationships and partner with stakeholders at various levels of the organization to design and facilitate effective processes for technology strategy.
  • Develop metrics and reporting to monitor success criteria for the CRM technology strategy
  • Facilitate the CRM strategy meetings with the executive leadership team, Product and Portfolio Management and Schwab Technology Services.
  • Execute the CRM technology request intake process for new or updated technology/application needs across the department

What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience working in Finance/Banking/Risk Management related projects
  • 10+ years of experience working with technology and application strategy and management
  • Strong background and exposure to technology and application strategy and management including vendor management, funding, optimization, and data architecture
  • Microsoft Office applications – well developed understanding and use of MS tools (Excel, graphics, macros, power point, word, report formatting etc.)
  • Self-starter with strong project/change management skills
  • Expert working within ambiguity and processes that have yet to be designed
  • Detail oriented
  • Able to manage multiple work streams within established timelines
  • Effective relationship builder; ability to partner with others to work effectively with various levels of the organization as well as various personality types
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Change Practitioner
