In Enterprise & Operational Risk Management (EORM), our purpose is to govern, oversee, and continually improve Charles Schwab’s enterprise & operational risk programs through supporting and challenging business partners and raising risk awareness to improve decision making.  We look to manage enterprise & operational risk impacts across Charles Schwab and its subsidiaries/affiliates by fostering a risk culture consistent with the leadership values of the company. Reporting to the Director of Risk Data, Reporting & Technology (RDR&T), this role will work closely with other members of Corporate Risk Management (CRM) as they execute key functions that includes engaging business partners and oversight groups with help and guidance in fulfilling their responsibilities with emphasis placed on risk data integrity and reporting for CRM and the firm. 

What you’ll do

As a member of the RDR&T team, you will partner with business data subject matter experts and IT leads to design, develop and execute data management and reporting practices that ensure the quality of risk data through all channels from source systems to data aggregation processes to published dashboards and reports.

You will have the following key responsibilities:

  • RDR&T facilitates the production of the quarterly Aggregate ERM Report is the primary report used to provide the Chief Risk Officer’s risk perspective in the context of CSC’s risk appetite and highlight top current risks and quarterly performance of Risk Appetite Monitoring Metrics across CSC’s Key Risk Categories to the Board Risk Committee.
  • Building scale and efficiency into our risk reporting capabilities is central to our team’s DNA. We believe that there is an opportunity to leveraging AI tools to help achieve that goal in the near term. This role will assist with the concept design, development and piloting of AI applications that will be utilized to augment content review and provide effective challenge of the quarterly risk committee reports in order to generate an executive summary for CRM leadership. 
  • Engage with Corporate Risk Management (CRM) oversight groups in fulfilling their risk reporting responsibilities with emphasis placed on risk reporting content and data quality.
  • Build relationships and partner with stakeholders at various levels of the organization to design and facilitate effective processes for digital data collection.
  • Work on department initiatives to improve and streamline data collection by delivering key efficiency targets in simplifying and digitizing our reporting to various Board and risk management committees.
  • Provide administrative support for a risk reporting tool and assist with development of a roadmap for identifying and implementing a centralized risk management committee reporting application.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or business equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in corporate risk management, data governance, risk reporting, audit, or similar role
  • Self-starter with strong project/organizational/time management skills
  • Detail oriented and the ability to manage multiple work streams within established timelines
  • Effective relationship builder; ability to partner with others to work effectively with various levels of the organization as well as various personality types
  • Strong analytical background and exposure to metadata transformation, data aggregation and reporting applications is a plus 
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Anticipates potential obstacles and develops contingency plans to overcome them
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Microsoft Office applications – well developed understanding and use of MS tools (Excel, grapics, macros, power point, word, report formatting etc.)
