Schwab’s Corporate Development team is part of the Strategy & Administration organization. As a team, we support the inorganic growth strategy of the firm by analyzing and executing acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investments.

In recent years, the Corporate Development team has successfully completed numerous transactions, including USAA’s Investment Management Company and TD Ameritrade. These transactions helped to create a large-scale, full-service investment firm with world class solutions and unlocked meaningful financial benefits for our stockholders. We expect to continue to remain active in the evaluation and execution of transactions, both big and small, going forward. We are also active in making strategic investments, including Wealth.com and Dynasty Financial Partners.

As a Corporate Development Associate, you will play a key role in helping to evaluate acquisition, divestiture, and strategic investment opportunities, coordinate due diligence processes, assist in negotiations, and participate in the overall execution of transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of detailed financial analyses related to mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investments
  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of presentations outlining the strategic and financial rationale for transactions to senior management and the Board of Directors
  • Partner with cross-functional teams across Schwab to coordinate and administer due diligence efforts
  • Coordinate communications among project teams, senior leadership, external advisors, and counterparties
  • Negotiate NDAs and other transaction-related agreements with counterparties
  • Work with the business enterprises, functional areas (e.g., Legal, Technology, Operations, Intellectual Property, Human Resources, etc.) and others on the analysis and execution of acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investments
  • Interface and partner with senior leaders to ascertain strategic goals of various business enterprises
  • Conduct strategic industry analyses and landscape studies
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the team by refining existing processes and assisting in the training and development of new team members

What you have


Required Qualifications:

  • 3-7 years of work experience in investment banking or corporate development (M&A).
  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the financial services sector
  • Successful history of contributing to M&A transactions
  • Superior analytical skills, creativity in problem solving, research capabilities, and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences
  • Comfort level working on a cross-functional team in a dynamic, fast-moving, and high stakes work environment
