Schwab Private Wealth Services (SPWS) is a complimentary branded program for ultra-high net worth (UHNW) retail clients with $10M+ in qualifying household assets with Schwab. SPWS provides the highest level of service with a complimentary suite of benefits including a team of seasoned wealth and trust specialists, top-priority response times, and a dedicated Senior Banker. 

The Schwab Private Wealth Services team is seeking a highly experienced Director of SPWS Business Development Officer to build, lead and implement a defined strategy to attract and grow UHNW relationships across Schwab.

What you’ll do:

  • As a key member of the SPWS team, the Business Development Officer (BDO) is responsible for outbound prospecting, networking, qualifying, and closing new SPWS accounts to Schwab
  • Serve as a resource and subject matter expert on SPWS and the specific needs of UHNW clients. Based on the needs and understanding the full suite of Schwab resources, directly vector to “best fit” relationship structure and capabilities available through broader Schwab, including Private Wealth Services, Wealth Advisor Services Family Office and Separate Account Network.
  • The successful candidate will build trusting relationships with SPWS Wealth Consultants and local Financial Consultants, and partner closely with Schwab internal business partners, including Schwab Family Office.
  • The BDO will support SPWS growth through client asset consolidation, networking, and earning client referrals. Most of their time will be spent prospecting new UHNW business opportunities to Schwab.

What you have


  • Deep knowledge, industry credibility and proven expertise in consulting direct with UHNW clients and family offices.
  • Strategic leadership skills with an entrepreneurial spirit who is able to work with autonomy and as a team to drive new business to Schwab.
  • Advanced knowledge on the complexity and unique challenges with UHNW clients and family offices, including tax issues, estate planning, restricted stock, complex accounts, managed accounts, trusts, philanthropy, risk management, lending and asset safety.
  • Focus on staying current and fully informed on Schwab capabilities and the competitive offerings in the UHNW industry ranging from technology, reporting, events, etc. and how it impacts Schwab’s market share within the UHNW segment.
  • Always seeking to identify and understand the key issues and future trends for UHNW clients and family offices.
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport and trust with leadership, business partners and clients where they respect your expertise, influence with potential solutions and have the confidence that you are able to implement in their best interests.
  • A “people first” approach to the organizational culture to contribute, help motivate and inspire other team members to bring out the collective best. A genuine approach to collaboration and teamwork to achieve the desired outcomes for each other, the firm and clients.
  • Strong executive presence with well-developed communication and presentation skills.
  • Passion for learning, professionalism, positivity, strong work ethic with a high level of integrity.
  • Aspirations for more than baseline expectations
  • Have a well established network of centers of influence within the market (CPAs, attorneys, etc..)
  • Must have: 10+ years of Ultra High Net Worth experience, family office sales experience with a proven record of success
  • Must have at least 2+ years experience prospecting, qualifying, and strengthening your UHNW network with proven experience for closing new SPWS accounts to Schwab
  • Must have Series 7 and 66 required (66 can be obtained by a condition of employment)
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration or related area is preferred
  • MBA, CFP, CPA/PGS, CFA or JD a plus
