This role will be servicing and managing Journey experiences across Schwab, with an interim focus on Retirement & Inheritance, Lending and Digital Payment Move-Money experiences.

We are looking for an experienced, collaborative, and adaptable senior product designer who is passionate about understanding user needs and pain points to join the User Experience (UX) team. The UX Team crafts effortless mobile, web and desktop experiences that are grounded in empathy and informed by insights and thoughtful planning. We are a multi-disciplinary group of professionals with expertise in design, content strategy, and research. We collaborate across the enterprise to build exceptional digital experiences for millions of clients. As a Senior Product Designer, you are responsible for:

Product design expertise and execution:

  • Bring product journeys to life through collaboration across the enterprise, designing solutions that delight and satisfy our clients and meet business needs
  • Influence and lead product design efforts from early discovery to final delivery, with an emphasis on selecting the best approach and UX methods to define potential solutions
  • Expertly design interactions across desktop, mobile web and native mobile experiences, including using product context to create concepts that are built for user needs and expectations
  • Define the UI/UX design approach for products, including how aspects like layout, color, spacing, typography and interaction impact how the user will interact with the system and how the system should respond
  • Work within and contribute to a design system with full understanding of the overarching structure and implementation methods for patterns and components
  • Understand that the tiniest detail can make all the difference in designing a great product, with focused attention on meeting product requirements, providing consistent and error-free experiences aligned to brand identity, and ensuring every aspect of the design is accessible and inclusive

 Talent management:

  • Manage across UX disciplines, with a dual focus on furthering the XD team and growing individual team members
  • Manage UX teams within a program/portfolio managing relationships and resource capacity
  • Set clear expectations for reports and team members, provide feedback, and address performance-related items
  • Develop and support individual growth plans to capitalize on employee talents

 Team leadership:

  • Lead and mentor across UX disciplines in solving problems to create seamless experiences across product areas
  • Work with teams to estimate project completion based on task completion estimates and resource availability
  • Define UX roadmaps across multiple product areas
  • Act as a role model and share feedback on use of collaborative techniques

Experience consulting:

  • Create solutions together with a cross-functional Agile team, considering how digital, physical, and service channels work together
  • Tackle system-level questions with opportunities in design, architecture or standards
  • Introduce ideation methods and techniques to planning and discovery processes
  • Co-create product or feature opportunities and design solutions with partners using XD Methods
  • Lead cross-functional teams in using data to define the right problem to solve
  • Work with partners to build and define metrics that show experience impact
  • Lead reviews and drive decision-making with the understanding great products are achieved iteratively
  • Resolve internal roadblocks within XD team and resolve broader roadblocks collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Your approach:

  • Use various communication techniques to showcase work and persuade through rationale and storytelling
  • Use strong data, multiple arguments, and concrete, specific language to tailor and deliver content to the level and experience of the audience
  • Comfortable presenting and persuading senior leadership through conversations and interactions
  • Unflappable in the face of challenges and adversity while inspiring others to follow their lead
  • Able to pivot in a new direction with enthusiasm and generate new ideas based on feedback or changes

  • Takes a leading role in defining a project or effort with partners
  • Facilitates groups or teams through design thinking and problem definition processes to develop a clearer understanding of the path and the next steps to take

What you have


Required Qualifications:

  • An online portfolio (and password if needed) showing process and design thinking
  • Deep experience with collaborative product journey discovery and delivery efforts
  • Expert understanding of Design Systems and experience in working with cross-functional teams to implement
  • 11+ years of product design experience focused on digital products or equivalent
  • 3+ years of people management and/or cross descipline team lead experience
  • 3+ years of product design experience for touch-based mobile interfaces
  • Expert in all facets of UX design thinking methods, including practice, process, tools, and techniques to lead a design session
  • Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team within an iterative process and Agile development methodology
  • Strong self-management skills, comfortable with substantial responsibility, working directly with our client partners, and capable of managing your project schedules
  • Proficient in design tools like Figma, FigJam, and Writer
  • Experience running design sessions with cross-functional teams
  • Effective relationship builder--ability to partner cross-functionally, cross-enterprise and work effectively with various levels of the organization as well as various personality types

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of conversational design experience
  • Comfortable in a project-driven work environment, with a positive attitude and solid work ethic
