International Services is a diverse and multi-faceted organization. We not only support retail clients around the world but also a variety of internal partners and domestic clients through governance, subject matter expertise, translation capabilities and global product management. The Schwab International team is a business unit dedicated to empowering investors who reside inside and outside of the United States with the tools to trade globally. International Services provides trading and service support for non-U.S. based clients who are both U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens.

Within International Services, the Global Governance and Risk (“GGR”) team provides leadership and strategic support for policy, governance and control management, and partners closely with organizations across the three lines of defense to effectively manage risk as we help investors around the globe harness the security and prosperity of the US market. As a 1st Line of Defense Risk Management Team, GGR is responsible for the design, maintenance, and maturation of International’s risk management and governance infrastructure that safeguards the Firm while enabling International’s key strategic and regulatory initiatives.

We are seeking risk-savvy professional with a strong interest in Schwab’s International business to join our Global Governance & Risk team as a Manager, individual contributor. This role will report to the Director of International Policy & Risk Programs and is responsible for executing the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program and overseeing the lifecycle of control management within the International business. This role ensures risks are properly identified, assessed, and mitigated through effective control design and operation. This role will partner with business process owners, Compliance, Legal, Operational Risk, and other second-line risk teams to maintain a robust control environment and support regulatory and internal policy expectations.  Elements of this role will often require quick turnaround on deliverables and may require early or after-hours meetings with our international affiliate partners in Europe and Asia.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • RCSA Program Execution: Support the end-to-end execution of the RCSA program and related deliverables for International Services in alignment with enterprise standards and program requirements.
  • Control Inventory Management: Maintain and support updates to an accurate and comprehensive control inventory, aligned to business processes and risk.
  • Control Testing & Monitoring Support: Collaborate with control testing teams to ensure timely and effective execution of testing plans.
  • Reporting & Governance: Prepare and maintain risk and control reporting for management committees and governance forums
  • Risk Culture & Advisory: Partner with internal teams to support the adoption of risk culture principles and alignment enterprise risk practices.

What you have


Required Qualifications

  • 3-6 years of experience in risk management, supervision, internal controls, audit, governance and/or control-focused roles within financial services, preferably with exposure to international business.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, risk management, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Series 7, 63, and/or 9/10 licenses.
  • Professional certifications (CRMA, CIA, CPA, CISA, or similar).
  • Proficient understanding of RCSA methodology, control lifecycle management, and operational risk frameworks.
  • Proficient with control testing, audit preparation, issue management, and governance reporting.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and various other system & database tools and solutions including the suite of Microsoft applications.
  • Familiarity with enterprise risk framework and regulatory risk principles.
  • Open to new approaches, adaptable to change, and maintains a positive outlook during transitions.
  • Strong relationship management skills (negotiating, collaborating, influencing).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to bridge technical systems with risk needs.
  • High attention to detail and documentation.
  • Knowledge of risk and control tools/systems.
  • Comfortable with technical control design and logic.
  • Ability to articulate process improvements in a structured, scalable, and risk-aligned way.
