The B2B Marketing, Senior Manager will join our Workplace Marketing and Communications team in developing and executing ongoing Marketing Communications Strategies and Plans designed to attract and retain 401K and equity clients.  

This role will create effective marketing initiatives, events, media placements and communications to employers with a focus on growth, new-to-firm assets and driving new client acquisition. Partnering closely with members in the existing 40+ person team as well as the SRPS and SPS field, they will work to deliver effective communications that engage employers in workplace retirement plans and stock plans and support their employees’ broader financial needs.  Also, responsible for supporting the B:B marketing and communications needs for the B:B audience within Retirement Plan Services and Stock Plan Services and reports to the Sr Manager, Marketing, Workplace Acquisition Marketing.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with the RPS and SPS business in developing marketing programs to support key business objectives that drive growth. 
  • Develop and execute direct-to-employer/consultant outreach, driving integration across multiple channels including B:B public websites, paid media advertising, print and other digital, events (industry, in person and virtual).
  • Facilitate insights and research in support of buyer’s journey
  • Leverage lower-level funnel lead generation activities to address key employer, consultant and prospect pain points and curiosity with engaging and relevant thought leadership content
  • Continuously evaluate campaigns to optimize and continuously improve acquisition results
  • Working collaboratively with product teams to develop and execute prospect (employer) communications – product launches, new enhancements and additional features/benefits.
  • Supporting larger events strategy by managing key hospitality initiatives built to drive deeper relationships for the firm
  • Partner with Sales teams to manage communications to drive awareness and consideration to kick off the sales funnel. 
  • Collaborate with Schwab Retail Marketing in managing the corporate employee experience, working closely with Retail Marketing to understand corporate client employees. 
  • Work closely with Workplace Marketing partners to leverage best practices and new learnings 
  • Work closely with manager to leverage and enhance an integrated channel platform, including digital and social media

What you’re good at:

  • Understanding the prospect journey and how to use marketing to enhance the experience
  • You enjoy and are experienced in working with agency partners to deliver differentiated marketing, including:
    • Creative agency management
    • Research agency management
    • Marketing campaign strategy, execution and measurement
    • Advertising, lead generation and paid media 
    • Creating and measuring effectiveness through Key Performance Indicators
  • Collaborate with Schwab Retail Marketing in managing the corporate employee experience, working closely with Retail Marketing to understand corporate client employees. 
  • Creating and delivering large industry event experiences at scale, guiding the event team and creative agencies on delivering the event vision with full budget oversight across a large organization. 
  • Collaborating with business partners and channel owners to implement marketing programs
  • Project managing content and creative development
  • Utilizing marketing automation capabilities to optimize communications
  • Tracking marketing against business goals to measure success

What you have


To ensure that we fulfill our promise of “challenging the status quo,” this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have: 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5-7 years’ experience in B:B and B:C product marketing and communications 
  • Exposure to B:B or B:C marketing environment, with an understanding of meeting multiple audience needs 
  • Experience in integrated marketing and its channels: email, print advertising, events, etc., including a strong understanding of digital and social media placement 
  • Exposure to marketing automation platforms, knowledge of Marketo and/or Salesforce helpful
  • Ability to synthesize data, identify opportunities, make recommendations and create a plan to deliver experiences that meet the needs of clients
  •  Demonstrated ability to analyze data and factor those insights into your decisions 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Financial Services industry experience, specifically in retirement plan services and/or workplace benefits 
  • Advanced degree (e.g. MBA)
  • Experience in creating customer journeys and designing effective experiences based on them
  • Understanding of CRM systems, knowledge of Salesforce helpful
  • Ability to make decisions and progress in the face of ambiguity
  • An approach which is curious, inquisitive, analytical, proactive and solutions-oriented
  • An orientation which is high-energy, positive, entrepreneurial in spirit while goal-oriented and results-driven
  • Ability to talk and present “up and down” the organization from SVPs to new-to-the-workforce colleagues
  •  Self-starter and work independently 
  • An approach that brings solution options to the table, not just barriers/challenges
