As a Senior Manager - Product Owner – Quantitative Research you will lead the vision, strategy, and delivery of advanced quantitative research tools. These solutions empower investment professionals and clients with the development of quantitative investment strategies, ratings, and advice, supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will work as part of a digital product team dedicated to investment research platforms for Schwab Asset Management (SAM) and the Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR). Product Owners (POs) at Schwab develop and maintain a vision for their products and are responsible for communicating that vision to the engineering teams and key stakeholders. They specify product features from conception to retirement and work with tech leaders, architects, UX designers, and engineers to ensure that business, quality, and functional goals are met.

Key Outcomes

  • Platform Vision & Strategy
    • Shape and communicate a clear platform strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the evolving needs of quantitative equity research teams.
    • Translate platform vision into a prioritized Product Backlog, guiding Agile teams to deliver features that advance research capabilities and user experience.
  • Product Backlog Ownership
    • Own, prioritize, and maintain the Product Backlog, ensuring it is visible, well-refined, and understood by the team and stakeholders.
    • Clearly express backlog items and acceptance criteria, balancing new features, defect resolution, and production support.
    • Make trade-offs between competing priorities to maximize value delivered to stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Engage with quantitative researchers, data scientists, business partners, technologists, and vendors to prioritize platform enhancements that directly impact research outcomes.
    • Communicate platform changes and new capabilities to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with business objectives.
  • Cross-Team & Platform Coordination
    • Collaborate with technology teams and external vendors to implement scalable, secure, and high-performance platforms that support complex quantitative models and workflows.
    • Collaborate with other Product Owners to resolve dependencies and ensure seamless integration across teams and systems.
    • Address cross-functional implications of new features and enhancements.
  • Agile Leadership & Execution
    • Lead Agile teams in delivering incremental product value through effective backlog management and active participation in Scrum events.
    • Facilitate backlog refinement and ensure the team understands product strategy and priorities.
    • Participate in all Agile events and collaborate daily with the team.
  • Platform Metrics & Success Measures
    • Establish and track key platform metrics such as user adoption, research efficiency, system reliability, data quality, and time-to-market for new features.
    • Use data-driven insights to inform platform improvements and demonstrate impact on research productivity and business value.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Promote a culture of innovation and operational excellence in platform development, encouraging continuous learning and improvement.
    • Use product discovery practices to refine platform features, focusing on technical feasibility, usability, and business value.

What you have


Required Experience

  • 5+ years in financial services, including experience in quantitative research and strategic roadmap development as a product owner/manager collaborating with technology teams and business partners.
  • Familiar with cloud platforms, data engineering, and modern development practices.
  • Undergraduate degree required; advanced certification (e.g. CFA, FRM) and/or graduate degree in business, finance, quantitative disciplines, or related fields preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Experienced with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Scaled Agile) and collaborating cross-functionally.
  • Passionate about creating and enhancing tools for quantitative workflows and knowledge-sharing in investment teams.
  • Growth mindset and commitment to continual learning and self-improvement.
  • Strong communicator and effective stakeholder manager.
  • Curious, empathetic, and driven to deliver impactful solutions for quantitative investment strategies and client needs.
  • Skilled in analytical problem-solving, strategic thinking, and process management.
  • Able to translate technical concepts into actionable business value.
  • Proficient with quantitative research tools, data science platforms, market data integration, and languages such as Python or R.
  • Knowledge of platform technologies (cloud computing, APIs, data engineering, enterprise integration) and key metrics (user adoption, reliability, data quality).
  • Proven experience managing vendor relationships and integrating third-party solutions.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
