The Critical Facility Engineer is responsible for bringing best-in-class knowledge and effort to operating and maintaining mechanical equipment and buildings on Schwab campus facilities. Critical Facility Engineers partner closely with the Operations Manager, property management, vendors, and other engineering staff to ensure a well-maintained, safe and productive environment for Schwab employees. Critical Facility Engineers are the gatekeepers and stewards of our Critical Environments and systems. This opportunity is located at our Richfield, Ohio campus. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Troubleshoot and perform advanced maintenance on mechanical equipment such as generators, heat pumps,  dry coolers, industrial pumps, 3 phase motors, boilers, RTUs, VAVs, PDUs, and UPSs.
  • Reliably operate and maintain critical facility spaces and infrastructure.
  • Perform routine and advanced adjustments to and data retrieval from, BMS software to solve environmental comfort and mechanical calibrations.
  • Conduct daily rounds and readings of various building components, engineering logs and data records.
  • Perform work order administration ensuring accurate and timely information, photos and file attachments are made using the company provided CMMS system.
  • Perform general building maintenance.
  • Actively participate in incident response.
  • Respond to emergencies.
  • Respond to incidents in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with vendor partners during planned maintenance or break-fix in an observer or active participant role.
  • Pass competency-based exams on equipment operation as a condition of employment.
  • Complete required safety and compliance training.
  • Report to the Operations Manager.
  • Professionally interact with tenants and contractors.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Operations Manager.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site five days per week in the specified location.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.

What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 
  • 6+ years of critical facility engineering experience, ideally in Class A building campus settings.
  • Universal CFC certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, tenants, and contractors.
  • Flexibility for overtime, after-hours work, and on-call rotation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electrical and or Mechanical license.
  • A passion for learning and advancing your expertise in building science, electrical, or mechanical operations.
  • Certifications or completed degree programs from accredited trade schools, or Mechanical vendors such as York or Trane preferred.
