Wealth and Advice Solutions Technology (WAS Tech) is an organization within Schwab Technology Services aligned to support the technology needs of Wealth and Advice Solutions (WAS) business which is a growth area for Schwab.

This newly created Senior Software Engineer role will contribute to technical excellence and help drive the strategic growth of the WAS business. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will enable WAS Tech to achieve consistent, predictable, high-quality delivery by implementing advanced engineering best practices, contributing to automation frameworks, and providing technical guidance to junior and mid-level team members. You'll serve as both a senior hands-on technical contributor and technical mentor, participating in architectural discussions while delivering complex solutions. You will contribute to high-impact technical initiatives that support business objectives, helping drive technical innovation in our collaborative, fast-paced environment.

You will play a critical role in supporting key stakeholders across the WAS organization which is focused on high-net worth and ultra-high net worth retail investors.  Supported business functions span Schwab’s Wealth and Investment Solutions including Schwab Wealth Advisory.  You will be working with a team of talented and highly motivated technologists that strive to make technology a strategic differentiator for Schwab’s WAS business and their clients.

What you have


• BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in complex full-stack software development roles
• Strong experience developing single page applications with Angular (versions 12+) or React, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3/SCSS
• Proficiency in RxJS, state management, and Angular/React ecosystem
• Strong experience developing RESTful APIs with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, and Hibernate/JPA
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented principles, design patterns, and software architecture
• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems concepts
• Application development using TDD practices including unit, integration, and behavior/feature testing
• Experience contributing to test automation strategy and implementation
• Application performance evaluation, tuning, and optimization skills
• Experience with responsive web design and cross-browser compatibility
• Experience building accessible web applications (WCAG 2.1 Guidelines)
• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub/GitActions, and DevOps practices
• Strong SQL database experience (PostgreSQL, MSSQL, or Oracle)
• Proactively detect, troubleshoot, and remediate issues affecting production applications
• Provide clear communication during incident response and production issue resolution
• Experience building reusable components, utilities, and development tools
• Strong understanding of Agile software development principles with experience in Scrum-based delivery teams
• Experience mentoring and developing junior and mid-level engineers
• Strong interpersonal and technical communication skills
• Experience working independently while collaborating on cross-functional initiatives
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments while managing multiple projects
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools
• Experience providing Production and Operations Support
• Experience collaborating on technical decisions and contributing to architectural discussions
• Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience contributing to enterprise-level software architecture decisions
• AI tools like Copilot and understanding of AI prompts
• Experience with cloud-native enterprise applications deployed in AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and basic orchestration concepts
• Experience with messaging and streaming technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, event-driven patterns)
• Experience participating in technical roadmap discussions
• Code review leadership and contributing to development standards
• Experience working with development teams to ensure production readiness
• Contributing to knowledge repositories and documentation standards
• Experience following and improving support strategy guidelines
• 3+ years in Wealth Management and/or Financial Services industry experience
• Security implementation experience including authentication and authorization patterns
• Infrastructure as code awareness and basic DevOps practices

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
