Your opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together.

The Banking Operations learning and development team helps employees build the knowledge and capabilities needed to deliver strong workplace performance. As Senior Training Manager, you will serve as a trusted peer lead, cross-functional project lead, and decision-making partner to the department leader, without direct supervisory responsibility. You will bring together business acumen, influential communication, adaptive coaching, and applied expertise across the learning and development lifecycle to turn business priorities into focused, measurable learning solutions.

In this role, you will help prioritize the learning portfolio, lead complex initiatives from discovery through evaluation, and create alignment around scope, requirements, risks, trade-offs, decision ownership, and success measures. You will guide quality across needs analysis, instructional design, content development, facilitation, implementation, and evaluation while partnering with business leaders to diagnose performance gaps and determine when learning or non-learning interventions will create the greatest impact. Through clear recommendations, purposeful coaching, and disciplined follow-through, you will strengthen workplace application, reduce avoidable rework, and help Banking Operations deliver consistent performance outcomes.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis without employer sponsorship.

What you have

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of applied experience in adult learning and instructional design or content development, learning measurement and reporting, and facilitation or presentations. These experience requirements may be met concurrently and are not cumulative.
  • Applied understanding of performance consulting, design, development, delivery, learning technology, and evaluation sufficient to guide quality and effective handoffs across specialties.
  • Ability to connect business goals, observable performance outcomes, learning objectives, and evaluation measures; assess demonstrated capability and workplace application beyond completion and satisfaction; and use findings to improve solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to adapt complex information and interactive learning for audiences ranging from new hires to senior executives.
  • Strong analytical and performance-consulting skills, including needs assessment, root-cause analysis, and process improvement, with the ability to distinguish knowledge and skill gaps from process, tool, communication, and expectation gaps.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach adults across career stages, skill levels, and development needs through active listening, purposeful questions, specific feedback, tailored practice, and follow-up that builds capability and independence.
  • Ability to influence consultatively and challenge constructively by questioning requests and assumptions, using evidence to define performance needs, and explaining trade-offs when recommending learning or non-learning solutions.
  • Demonstrated end-to-end learning and development project leadership, organizational discipline, and sound judgment, including prioritizing concurrent initiatives, validating requirements, managing risks and scope changes, and applying quality checks to protect outcomes.
  • Demonstrated peer and cross-functional leadership without supervisory authority, including building alignment, facilitating decisions, following through on commitments, and presenting evidence-based recommendations within clear decision boundaries.
  • Experience applying instructional design models such as ADDIE or SAM across e-learning, instructor-led, and blended learning, and designing coaching or mentoring programs.
  • Familiarity with Agile approaches such as Scrum or Kanban and traditional Waterfall methods, along with a project management certification such as PMP.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and experience with Articulate authoring tools, SharePoint collaboration and content platforms, and learning management systems used for delivery, administration, and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience delivering process training in the brokerage or financial services industry

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
