Your opportunity

Corporate Affairs champions Schwab’s story and reputation through internal and external communication channels. Our purpose is to drive positive external stakeholder perceptions of Schwab, strengthen internal employee engagement across all Schwab channels, and improve Corporate Affairs’ operations and ability to drive business outcomes.

The Strategy & Operations team within Corporate Affairs is responsible for working closely with the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and Corporate Affairs leadership team to shape and execute our strategic vision for the function and deliver the operational support that enables the Corporate Affairs team to deliver maximum impact to our stakeholders and partners across Schwab. In this capacity, the team is responsible for the Corporate Affairs annual planning process; channel strategy and platforms; business unit risk management; overseeing the programs that help Corporate Affairs employees grow and foster our strong culture; and maintaining and strengthening relationships with key partners across Human Resources, Corporate Real Estate, Finance, Technology, Legal, Compliance and more.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Manager in Business Unit Risk, Social Media Governance, you will lead the governance and risk framework for Corporate Affairs’ brand social media presence. You’ll partner closely with Social Media channel owners, Compliance, Legal, and other control functions to set clear policies and procedures, enable compliant day-to-day execution, and strengthen controls across the social media account lifecycle (from new channel intake through ongoing oversight).

This role is ideal for a risk professional who can operate in a complex regulatory and business environment, stay current on evolving requirements impacting social media, and translate those requirements into practical guidance that teams can follow. You will also support core Business Unit Risk activities—including RCSAs, control design and documentation, record retention expectations, and continuous improvement of governance workflows—to ensure social media programs remain agile and well-controlled.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor: Provide strategic guidance on risk identification, governance, and approval workflows, with a strong focus on social media programs and platforms in a regulated environment.
  • Guide new channel assessments: Lead risk oversight for new and existing social media channels by guiding teams through pre-launch, launch, and post-launch phases.  Provide comprehensive guidance and best practices while delivering informed risk assessments to working group members and leadership to support effective decision-making.
  • Monitor regulatory changes & translate requirements: Stay current on evolving social media rules and standards; assess impact, update policies/procedures, and communicate clear guidance and expectations to stakeholders.
  • Assess & mitigate risk: Identify security, privacy, and compliance risks across social platforms. Assess and improve business unit risk processes, including reviewing workflows, policies, procedures, and documentation to identify control gaps, inefficiencies, and risk exposure.
  • Serve as the Corporate Affairs Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Facilitator: Support risk identification, control standardization, and remediation planning aligned with enterprise risk expectations.
  • Support the broader Corporate Affairs risk framework: Provide comprehensive support, including control design assessments, testing activities, operational governance, documentation management, and record retention as necessary.
  • Enhance efficiency and foster innovation; Develop clear, practical guides, training materials, and business standards to promote operational consistency across teams.
  • Drive procedural improvements: Provide structured procedural guidance to ensure compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards, including ongoing assessments and certification activities.
  • Engage with stakeholders: Collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders across functions to drive adoption of improved workflows, strengthen governance, and embed risk awareness into daytoday operations.
  • Drive change management: Support organizational transformation by influencing teams, building alignment, and supporting implementation of governance and risk initiatives.
