Director, Fixed Income Service (Retail)

As a Fixed Income Director, you will lead six team managers of Fixed Income professionals across multiple locations, as well as lead our Trade Support team manager. This is an exciting opportunity to be a driver of growth, leadership, and innovation. You will be expected to be a leader in championing our clients’ goals, focusing on the recruitment, retention, and development of our people, displaying leadership courage, and collaboration to drive better results. 

Our specialists have close alignment and partnership with the sales teams of Regional Bond Specialists. Our teams provide guidance and support for clients fixed income needs. Typical client interactions range from basic information and trade execution to complex portfolio analysis and construction. Teams conduct consultative and guidance driven conversations.

The Trade Support team handles the error resolution for the department including processing and correcting trade errors. They also partner with the trading desk, the FI ops team, the FI Risk team and compliance to reach out to clients who have placed trades online that resulted in an issue that requires additional follow-up.

Required Qualifications

  • Partner closely with other functions such as product management, trading, marketing, legal, compliance, and supervision
  • Drive for process improvements that lead to improved efficiencies and greater client experience
  • Ensure appropriate supervision of all client-related activities, in partnership with the compliance and supervision teams.

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years in sales and/or service leadership/financial services capacity.
  • Active FINRA securities licenses - Series 7, 63/66, 9, and 10
  • A strong understanding and grasp of the competitive landscape in the financial services industry, especially related to fixed income and wealth management
  • Experience building teams; ability to motivate and coach experienced, skilled people leader
  • Proven experience at creating a strategic roadmap and vision for teams
  • Strong general management background including familiarity with human resources policies
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills. Ability to establish rapport with and influence senior leaders and Schwab colleagues
  • Executive level communication skills, including comfort creating and delivering presentations to varying audiences
  • Ability to listen well, think strategically and creatively to solve problems and generate action through persuasion
  • A strong understanding of key partner functions, such as product management, trading, marketing, supervision, and compliance
  • A bias for action and the ability to overcome obstacles and successfully partner with multiple constituents
