Director, Legal Operating Model, AI & Transformation
Your opportunity
At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.
The Director, Legal Operating Model, AI & Transformation is responsible for helping the Legal & Government Affairs leadership team successfully execute its strategic priorities and continuously improve how legal, regulatory, litigation, and public policy services are delivered.
This is a highly execution-oriented leadership role. The successful candidate will partner closely with department leadership to translate strategy into action, coordinate complex cross-functional initiatives, drive adoption of new capabilities, and deliver measurable improvements in legal quality, client service, productivity, operational effectiveness, and organizational performance.
The role serves as a catalyst for change and continuous improvement across the department. Working through influence rather than direct authority, the Director will help align stakeholders, remove barriers to execution, establish accountability, and ensure strategic initiatives achieve intended outcomes.
The role also serves as the department’s leader for the responsible adoption, integration, and scaling of artificial intelligence capabilities, helping legal teams incorporate AI into legal workflows, knowledge systems, service delivery models, and decision-making processes in ways that improve legal quality, efficiency, consistency, and client experience while maintaining appropriate governance and professional standards.
Success in this role will be measured not by plans created, presentations delivered, technologies implemented, or pilot programs launched. Success will be measured by improvements successfully adopted, sustained, and translated into measurable business outcomes.
In this role, you will serve as LGA’s central source of expertise to:
Process map workflows across the LGA department;
Ideate solutions to enhance quality, strategic capacity and/or efficiency through redesigned workflows, processes, or use of technology (including AI);
Partner with others on the creation, implementation, and adoption of these solutions;
Advance the responsible, scalable, and measurable use of lean processes, legal technology, and AI solutions; and
Support appropriate governance, human oversight, and alignment to Schwab’s risk, compliance, and technology standards.
You will report directly to the Head of Legal Operations and Strategic Initiatives (LOSI) and will serve as a member of the LOSI leadership team.
