Schwab Retirement Technologies (SRT) develops and supports a broad portfolio of retirement solutions used across the Third-Party Administrator (TPA) retirement services industry. We are seeking a Software Development & Platform Engineer who is passionate about modern software engineering, platform enablement, and continuous improvement. This role offers the opportunity to influence the design, development, scalability, reliability, and modernization of enterprise applications while serving as a technical leader across multiple Agile teams.

As a key member of the Platform Engineering team, you will help shape engineering practices, strengthen software delivery capabilities, and drive innovation across development and deployment processes. You will partner closely with engineering teams, Service Availability Engineering, Automation Engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve application performance, deployment strategies, observability, and operational excellence. Your expertise will contribute to initiatives involving modern platform architecture, CI/CD optimization, performance and load-testing strategies, dual-production deployment models (Blue/Green and A/B), event-driven architecture, and enterprise-grade application modernization.

What you have


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience developing enterprise applications.
  • 7+ years of experience developing applications using .NET and/or .NET Core.
  • 7+ years of experience programming with C#.
  • Experience applying Object-Oriented Design principles and design patterns.
  • Experience developing and supporting RESTful APIs.
  • Experience working with relational databases, including SQL Server, SQL development, and stored procedures.
  • Experience using GitHub or similar source code management platforms.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience developing and supporting distributed, multi-tier applications.
  • Experience working within Agile software delivery environments.
  • Experience supporting production deployments and release management activities.
  • Experience implementing or supporting performance testing and load-testing environments.
  • Experience working with dual-production deployment strategies, including Blue/Green or A/B deployments.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical challenges, develop practical solutions, and influence engineering decisions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to build effective partnerships across teams and collaborate with stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Microsoft Copilot and other AI-assisted development tools.
  • Experience developing single-page applications and reusable UI components using Angular.
  • Experience applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles.
  • Experience developing enterprise-level financial services applications.
  • Experience working within the Retirement Services or broader Financial Services industry.
  • Experience leveraging Splunk for monitoring, observability, troubleshooting, and operational insights.
  • Experience with modern platform engineering concepts, event-driven architectures, feature management platforms, and distributed application design.

In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
