As a QA Test Engineering Lead, you will play a critical role in shaping the quality strategy for enterprise-scale Java and .NET applications while leading a talented team of quality engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of QA and Test Engineering professionals responsible for delivering high-quality technology solutions across backend services, APIs, and integrated systems.
  • Define, implement, and continuously enhance testing strategies covering functional, regression, integration, performance, and end-to-end testing.
  • Advance test automation capabilities using Selenium, RestAssured, and modern quality engineering practices to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Partner closely with product owners, architects, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Apply strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify root causes, resolve complex quality issues, and improve delivery outcomes.
  • Drive the adoption of AI-powered tools and intelligent automation to increase team productivity and testing effectiveness.
  • Design, implement, or support the development of AI agents that streamline quality engineering workflows and automate repetitive testing activities.
  • Enhance test coverage, improve defect analysis, and support data-driven decision-making through innovative quality engineering solutions.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across engineering and business teams.
  • Help ensure Schwab delivers exceptional, reliable, and scalable technology experiences for clients and employees through strong quality leadership.

What you have


Required Qualifications:

  • 5-7+ years of quality assurance, software testing, or quality engineering experience
  • 2+ years of experience leading, mentoring, or managing QA/Test Engineering teams
  • Deep expertise testing Java and/or .NET applications, including backend services, APIs, and integrated systems
  • Hands-on experience with Selenium for UI test automation and RestAssured for API test automation
  • Experience defining and executing test strategies across functional, integration, regression, performance, and end-to-end testing
  • Demonstrated experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices and frameworks such as Cucumber or SpecFlow, including authoring and reviewing Gherkin scenarios
  • Proven experience using AI-enabled tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar technologies to improve testing efficiency and quality outcomes
  • Experience building, implementing, or directing the development of AI-enabled workflow automation solutions
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex quality or system issues and drive long-term solutions
  • Ability to communicate technical risks, quality metrics, and release readiness effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience partnering across engineering, architecture, product, and business teams to deliver high-quality technology solutions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
  • ISTQB certification or comparable quality assurance credential
  • Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling
  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines
  • Background supporting financial services, regulated industries, or high-availability environments
  • Experience working within Agile and/or SAFe delivery frameworks
  • Experience establishing engineering quality metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting
  • Demonstrated success leading process improvement initiatives across quality engineering organizations

In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
