Schwab Asset Management Solutions (SAMS) Technology is part of the STS organization which is responsible for the company’s use of information technology including all telecommunications, operations and client and business applications.

SAMS Technology is aligned to support the technology needs of SAMS which is the investment advisor for Schwab’s proprietary mutual funds, referred to as the Schwab Funds; and it includes Schwab’s exchange-traded funds, referred to as the Schwab ETFs™.

What you’ll do:

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high quality solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing delivery environment. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, organized, and experienced business-focused technology individual with a proven record of software delivery to a front office investment management business.

The Software Engineer role responsibilities include hands-on development, and participation in architectural designs. You will work collaboratively in a full Agile and DevOps model in partnership with SAMS business—actively working with Product Owners, End-Users, Partners—in active participation in requirements, design, coding, testing (unit and functional), deployment, and post-release support.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Financial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of hands-on C# .NET or object-oriented design and development experience with front-end technologies like Angular and SQL Server database.
  • Participate and contribute to technology architecture designs to future proof platform and reduce technical debts.
  • Knowledge of software design patterns and ability to apply to the right use case scenarios.
  • Experience with agile process with good understanding of CI/CD.
  • Excellent written communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Well-organized and disciplined with high attention to detail who takes initiative and can work independently.
  • Flexible and adaptable working with various business domains.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Financial Engineering, or related field
  • Cloud platform experience such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Developer experience in Informatica, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and other Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) technologies.
  • Experience with Python, Gurobi, and optimization algorithms is highly preferred.
  • Experience with GitHub, GitHub action for DevSecOps, or Atlassian suite of products (Confluence, JIRA, Bamboo) is preferred.
  • Experience using Copilot and LLM based productivity enhancement tools.
  • Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) & Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) is a plus.
  • Financial Services Industry experience with exposure to Fixed Income portfolio management and trading processing including separately managed business workflows.

In addition to the base pay range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
