Schwab’s AI Strategy & Transformation team, known as AI.x, is the central hub for Artificial Intelligence at Schwab. We are an integrated product, engineering, strategy and risk team, all based in San Francisco. We help set the enterprise vision for AI, invest in the most promising opportunities, and accelerate delivery across the company. We also build the core platform that powers AI at scale and explore next-generation GenAI efforts that will redefine how we serve our clients. As an AI Engineer on AI.x, you will play an important role in bringing these priorities to life by designing and delivering innovative AI solutions.

As an AI Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of GenAI applications that enhance client experience and create business value. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, and business leaders to ensure solutions align with Schwab’s enterprise strategy. You will have the opportunity to learn from senior engineers, participate in technical discussions, and build strong engineering practices while embracing a culture of continuous learning. You will work on solving complex technical challenges, support best engineering standards, and help drive iterations from concept to production. Above all, you will bring curiosity, creativity, and technical skill to help shape the next generation of AI at Schwab.

What you have

Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degrees in Computer Science or related field. 
• 1+ years of software development full-time or internship experience in startups or large organizations. 
• 1+ years of experience building applications that use Large Language Models in professional or personal projects. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Strong computer science fundamentals and experience working across different parts of the tech stack. 
• Demonstrated mindset of continuous learning and improvement. 
• Focus on quality in everything you do. Continue to raise the bar and deliver high-quality products, with experience writing unit tests.
• Strong communication skills – you balance written and verbal communication to clearly share your perspective with others on the team. 
• Experience building applications and data pipelines that interface with large datasets. 
• Experience with containers and cloud-native applications, and the ability to operationalize them in the public cloud with infrastructure as code.
• Ability to solve problems with ambiguous or incomplete data in complex codebases. 
• Curiosity about new technologies and processes – you always seek to improve yourself and proactively seek and share knowledge with others on your team.
• Experience working with LLMs and shipping LLM-powered applications to production.
• Experience with Python and Angular preferred but not required.
