We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

At Schwab, technology infrastructure is critical to delivering exceptional experiences for our clients and employees. As a Senior Specialist, Hardware Systems Engineering, you will play a key role in supporting and optimizing our data center and critical technology environments.

In this hands-on role, you will partner with Infrastructure & Operations teams, facilities teams, telecommunications providers, and external vendors to ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of hardware deployments across our technology environments. You will help design and manage technology spaces, oversee hardware lifecycle activities, coordinate connectivity and infrastructure projects, and serve as a trusted technical resource for data center operations.

  • Support daily operations within critical technology and data center environments, ensuring the availability and reliability of infrastructure services.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, facilities, and project teams to gather and translate hardware and infrastructure requirements into technology space and deployment plans.
  • Develop and maintain IT space design documentation, including rack layouts, power allocation, cabling design, and capacity planning.
  • Coordinate installation, deployment, relocation, and decommissioning of technology hardware, including servers, storage systems, network devices, and telecommunications equipment.
  • Manage technology asset inventory and data center capacity using Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools.
  • Serve as the primary technology liaison for facilities and security activities impacting critical technology areas.
  • Coordinate structured cabling, connectivity projects, telecommunications circuit deliveries, and vendor access requirements.
  • Manage IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) activities, ensuring secure data handling, asset tracking, audit compliance, and vendor coordination.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Layer 1 connectivity issues involving cabling, cross-connects, circuit extensions, and physical infrastructure.
  • Partner with third-party vendors to support hardware maintenance, deployments, environmental monitoring, and recycling initiatives.
  • Support and maintain operations across multiple data center locations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex, ensuring high availability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
