The Personal Trust Services (PTS) Cross-Product Strategy Sr. Manager will report to the Director of Personal Trust Products as a member of the PTS Product Management team.  The PTS Cross-Product Strategy Sr. Manager will support all Personal Trust products serving Schwab’s clients across Advisor Services and Investor Services (“retail”) and will focus on system integration, process improvements, and efficiencies for the entire product line of the Personal Trust Services organization.   

What you will do:

Broker/Dealer Integration

  • Trust Accounting System – Schwab uses the Black Diamond Trust (AKA “BDT”, formerly Innovest/InnoTrust) accounting system. The position will require analysis, leading to implementation of enhancements to the processes of the PTS business.  This includes Schwab broker/dealer systems and the Black Diamond Trust system.    
  • ASDD files – PTS utilizes Schwab’s Advisor Services Data Delivery data files as part of the broker/dealer and BDT integration. The PTS Cross-Product Strategy Sr. Manager will be tasked with optimizing the data in those files and how they are consumed by BDT. 
  • APIs – The PTS Cross-Product Strategy Sr. Manager will look for new ways to improve the user experience through API usage. The role will require significant partnerships with the BDT vendor, Schwab Tech teams, and the PTS Platform team.   

Data Integrity

  • Cost Basis – The PTS Cross-Product Strategy Sr. Manager will work closely with members of the Cost Basis and Tax teams at Schwab. The role will require expertise in cost basis, corporate actions, general securities processing, and trust tax to effectively partner with Schwab resources to apply their guidance to the PTS business.    
  • Tax – The role will require working closely with the PTS Operations team, the PTS tax vendor, as well as the PTS fiduciary tax team to ensure processes and procedures are optimized to automate where possible, optimizing efficiency and accuracy of the data in the trust system and protecting the firm against risk.  

Project Management

  • Small Project Lead – The PTS Cross-Product Strategy Sr. Manager will act as a project manager for small implementation projects within PTS. The role will require exceptional communication and organization skills.
  • Work with leaders – The PTS Product Team frequently create and present business cases to PTS and Schwab leaders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. 

Client Feedback and Communication

  • Release Notes – The role will require interpretation of Black Diamond Trust system release notes. It will require a deep understanding of how Schwab and its clients use the system in order to produce a custom release notes communication.    
  • User Guides – The PTS Product Team is responsible for creating and updating user guides to help both internal and external users utilize the BDT system.
  • Procedures – The PTS Cross-Product Strategy Sr. Manager will work closely with leaders within PTS to ensure that all employees are optimizing their usage of the system and have procedures that are updated accordingly.

What you have


  • 10+ years of relevant work experience, including background in broker/dealer operations and trust accounting system processing and support
  • Project management experience using project management disciplines, schedules, etc
  • Experience working with a variety of data file formats, reading data files, translating files to Excel
  • SQL query skills highly desired
  • Experience in trust back-office processing
  • Experience with the Black Diamond Trust (formerly InnoTrust) trust accounting system
  • Financial services designations like CTFA or CSOP desired
  • Strong orientation to clients, including ability to understand needs and apply this knowledge to implementations and systems support
  • Strong analytical skills, including ability to quickly analyze data to identify key insights and apply them to the business  
  • Strong business judgment, including ability to balance tasks and evaluate and address risks
  • Be able and available to travel to out-of-town meetings or client sites, as needed. Travel would be very minimal (likely 1-2 trips per year) 

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
