Charles Schwab’s Corporate Vendor Management group oversees Schwab’s relationships with third-party service providers. The group is responsible for all aspects of third-party management, including sourcing, risk assessment, contracting, onboarding, monitoring, and off boarding. The team strives to act as trusted, strategic advisors to business leaders across Schwab, by helping them work with third parties in a way that successfully balances their needs, risk, and cost. As the firm’s outsourcing needs have increased in volume and complexity, this team’s responsibilities have also grown over time.

What you’ll do:

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Third-Party Oversight and Performance Monitoring in Corporate Vendor Management, this Manager will be responsible for supporting business owners in performance management and oversight of non-critical third-party service providers, ensuring third parties are delivering services in-line with contract provisions and Schwab’s policies. 

As a joint first line of defense partner, you will offer strategic support to business owners for our highest risk vendors in their management of vendor oversight requirements, vendor performance and compliance monitoring.  You will play a critical role in managing relatively large or complex relationships, programs, and initiatives. This position includes analyzing initiatives, developing and fine-tuning programs, executing program strategies, measuring against performance goals, and fostering relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximize the value of our third-party relationships.

  • Business Oversight: Expected to be a subject matter expert for third party provided services. Oversee vendor activities and bridge the relationship between the third party and Schwab. Includes ongoing dialogue and communication with the vendors and business owners through regular meetings, emails, telephone calls and formal vendor communications and notifications, to maximize the value of those relationships.
  • Performance Management: As performance issues are identified, work with the business owners and vendor contacts to identify root cause and corrective action plans to avoid a reoccurrence of the issue. Develop and contribute to continuous improvement in vendor governance.
  • Issue Management: Monitor vendor relationship to mitigate potential risks before they occur and/or address issues as they occur.

Please note: This position is M-F during standard business hours with a hybrid work model (4 days in office, 1 day working from home). It is only available in the locations listed. Candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate on their own to one of the listed locations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of total professional work experience with 3+ years of experience in supplier relationship management and/or supplier performance management
  • Skilled at maximizing vendor value in support of key organizational objectives
  • Proven track record of building effective working relationships with business leaders, internal and external stakeholders
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability developing materials and effectively presenting to senior audiences and/or regulators
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with minimal
  • Flexible and adaptable in handling and implementing change
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and issue management
  • Working knowledge of third-party vendor risks and monitoring

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the financial industry or other regulated environment (risk, compliance, and/or vendor management)
  • Experience with Ariba
  • Experience using and implementing industry leading Third-Party Risk Management solutions
