Schwab’s Corporate Actions and Balances, Positions & Transactions (CABPT) technology organization is recruiting to hire a results-oriented and talented Technology leader with a strong track record of technology-enabled business delivery. CABPT is part of the Core Brokerage Services Engineering (CBSE) which provides Asset Servicing, Custodial, Clearing and other Core Brokerage business capabilities to Schwab’s Retail and Institutional businesses. CABPT has a bimodal technology stack with a significant portion of its Technology assets on legacy mainframe platform along with a growing modern, distributed set of applications. 
We are seeking a strong leader to manage the team for CABPT, Cost Basis & Tax, and Customer reporting domains.

The primary responsibility of the Senior Manager is to own the core applications which support the above-mentioned areas. This encompasses high-volume transactions generating Applications and critical back-office systems leveraged across multiple lines of business. You will be accountable for developing and supporting technology processes and teams that enhance, modernize, manage change, perform production support and maintenance of new & legacy applications that run on Distributed and on Mainframe platforms.


This role requires leading scrum teams of individual contributors including Engineers in Development and Test, Technical Analysts, Scrum Masters, working on Modernization & Distributed Technology stack as well as those maintaining a legacy mainframe platform, collaborating with the Modernization teams.  This individual must have proven track record of strong execution, organizational and people leadership capabilities to lead Agile-oriented Product Development teams. The ability to understand and align with technology and business goals and the ability to clearly communicate with senior business leadership.  Candidates should have a passion for emerging technologies and be capable of influencing and inspiring teams in developing innovative solutions that meet the Business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Management

  • 3-5 years of managing multiple scrum teams, comprising of Full-Time Employees as well as Vendor team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively inspire and influence teams and partners in delivering technology enabled business solutions that meet business needs.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and promote collaboration across technology, Platform/Product and Business areas.
  • Ability to identify talent, recruit, hire, and build high performing Agile teams from ground up.
  • Ability to thrive in a flexible and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in planning, implementation, and support of business application components, including change and release management.
  • Strong analytical, multitasking skills, highly self-motivated and self-directed.

Technical

  • Professional experience guiding teams in building scalable enterprise applications with high availability and reliability.
  • Strong technology affinity and experience, as well as attention to detail and the ability to design, execute against strategic goals.
  • Experience leading in an Agile environment and implementing Continuous Deliver is a big plus.
  • Broad and deep knowledge of IT/software technology and trends, domain knowledge and experience in Distributed application development, web services, middleware, databases.
  • Good knowledge of Distributed platforms (including Cloud), Microsoft Windows, standard relational databases, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, MongoDB.
  • Experience leading legacy technology stack and some exposure to mainframe.

What you have


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of leading and managing IT teams, with project management, resource management, and Vendor resource management capabilities.
  • 3+ years of experience in Financial Services Industry a plus, specifically in Brokerage Business.
  • 3+ years of experience with running medium to large/complex projects with multiple dependencies.
  • Exposure/familiarity with AI automation, including GitHub Copilot.

  • Familiarity with Change Release and Agile tools such as ChangeMan, BMC Remedy, Jira, Rally.
