Role Description

We are seeking a strategic Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead Quality Assurance and Test Engineering practices across complex, distributed technology programs. This people leader will build and scale a modern QA practice that strengthens release confidence, improves engineering productivity, and embeds quality throughout the SDLC. The ideal candidate brings deep experience managing end-to-end test programs, automation strategy, non-production environment readiness, and AI-driven optimization in test engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop QA engineers, SDETs, test automation engineers, and test leads.
  • Define and execute QA and Test Engineering strategy across products, platforms, and value streams.
  • Own program-level end-to-end test planning and execution, including scope, criteria, risk-based testing, dependency management, defect triage, release readiness, and executive reporting.
  • Build and scale automation across UI, API, service, database, integration, regression, smoke, and business-critical workflows.
  • Drive AI-enabled test engineering optimization, including AI-assisted test generation, intelligent prioritization, flaky test detection, failure clustering, self-healing automation, test data generation, and predictive quality insights.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, Architecture, Operations, and Business stakeholders to shift quality earlier in the SDLC.
  • Establish QA governance, operating rhythms, dashboards, metrics, and reporting practices.
  • Oversee non-production environment readiness, test data strategy, service virtualization, and dependency management.
  • Champion continuous improvement and manage communication, escalation, RCA, and corrective action planning.

Required Qualifications

  • 12 - 15  years in Software Quality Assurance, Test Engineering, SDET, or Software Engineering roles supporting enterprise applications.
  • 3 + years ofpeopleleadership managing QA, SDET, automation, or test engineering teams.
  • Experience leading end-to-end test programs across multiple applications, platforms, integration partners, and distributed teams.
  • Strong background in automation strategy, framework design, CI/CD integration, and scalable automated test suites.
  • Experience with tools/languages such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress,WebdriverIO, Karate, REST Assured, Postman, Cucumber BDD, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or similar.
  • Experience applying AI, machine learning, or intelligent automation concepts to improve test design, execution, defect analysis, maintenance, coverage, and productivity.
  • Experience defining QA roadmaps, quality metrics, governance models, maturity plans, and improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum,SAFe, DevOps, CI/CD, shift-left testing, risk-based testing, service virtualization, test data management, and release readiness.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with senior leaders, product owners, engineers, architects, operations teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building or maturing a QA Center of Excellence, test engineering community of practice, or enterprise quality engineering operating model.
  • Experience with AI-assisted QA tooling such as test generation, self-healing automation, visual AI testing, predictive defect analytics, or failure analysis.
  • Experience leading quality engineering transformation in regulated, financial services, payments, banking, trading, or high-reliability technology environments.
  • Experience with cloud-based test execution, containerized test environments, observability, service virtualization, synthetic test data, and performance engineering.
  • Ability to translate technical quality initiatives into measurable business outcomes.
  • Master’s degree or relevant certifications in software engineering, quality engineering, Agile delivery, cloud, DevOps, or AI-enabled engineering practices.
