Joining us means becoming part of a global team where your work matters and your future can take shape.

Our Hyderabad location is central to Schwab’s growth, bringing together talented people and technology to drive innovation, scale and efficiency. Here, you will work alongside teams who create solutions that support millions of clients every day. The work you do is more than daily operations – it’s a chance to experiment, learn, and build within a values-driven, supportive environment. This is a unique opportunity to be part of our early growth phase and shape something new, backed by the stability and strength of a Fortune 500 company. Your impact begins on day one, and your contributions will help define our future in the region.

We are seeking an SDET to strengthen quality and release confidence by proactively supporting Non-Prod environment stability and test data readiness across backend systems (APIs, databases, and legacy applications). In this role, you will triage environment and data-related blockers, perform root cause analysis using logs/monitoring, and partner with platform, DevOps, and application teams to restore service and unblock testing quickly. You will also define and implement repeatable test data practices (creation, refresh, masking, and referential integrity) and lightweight health checks to prevent recurring failures. This is an opportunity to operate at the intersection of quality engineering and environment reliability, improving uptime, predictability, and end-to-end testing outcomes.

  • Own Non-Prod environment readiness for backend testing by proactively monitoring health signals (APIs, databases, batch/legacy jobs) and validating dependencies before key test windows.
  • Triage and resolve environment/data incidents and test blockers by analyzing logs, metrics, and traces; document root cause and drive corrective actions with DevOps, platform, and application teams.
  • Establish and maintain test data management practices (data creation, refresh, masking, and referential integrity checks) to ensure reliable and repeatable E2E/regression execution.
  • Create lightweight environment smoke tests and backend validation suites (API/DB checks) and integrate them into CI/CD for rapid feedback on stability and data quality.
  • Partner with QA, developers, and product teams to define test strategy for complex backend flows, including service virtualization/mocking where dependencies are unstable or unavailable.
  • Drive continuous improvement through recurring issue elimination, runbooks, and standard operating procedures; track and report quality/environment KPIs (e.g., environment uptime, incident MTTR, flaky test rate).

What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in Software Quality Engineering (manual and/or automation) supporting backend systems (APIs, databases, and/or batch/legacy applications).
  • 2+ years of experience testing REST APIs using tools such as Postman and/or automation frameworks (e.g., Karate, RestAssured, or similar).
  • Strong SQL skills with experience validating data in relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2) including joins and data integrity checks.
  • Experience troubleshooting Non-Prod environment and test-data issues using logs/monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk) and partnering with DevOps/platform teams to unblock testing.
  • Experience with source control and CI/CD workflows (e.g., GitHub/Bitbucket and Jenkins/Bamboo/Azure DevOps or similar).
  • Understanding of test data management concepts (data refresh, masking/obfuscation, referential integrity) and ability to follow data handling/security requirements in Non-Prod environments.
  • Working knowledge of defect and test management tools (e.g., Jira, Zephyr, Azure DevOps, HP ALM) with a track record of clear documentation and timely follow-through.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to manage competing priorities and provide status/ETAs during incidents and critical test windows.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Environment Observability and Triaging.
  • Handson with modern automation stacks (e.g., Java/C#, WebdriverIO, REST/GraphQL testing, service virtualization) and cloudbased execution.
  • Familiarity with programlevel planning artifacts (testing matrices, E2E QA procedures, communication channels) and metrics storytelling to leadership.
  • Financial/Trading services industry experience is a plus.
