Organization / Role Description:

The Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer role is for our Analytics Data Platform Engineering Automation team within Schwab Data. In this role you will be responsible for automating the deployment, testing, and delivery of software in a fast-paced agile environment. The ideal candidate will also have a passion for innovative technologies and a strong understanding of continuous integration, DevOps and deployment (CICD) and/or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) methodologies.

This is an opportunity to participate in cutting-edge cloud activation integration that will facilitate activation of data insights across Schwab in a highly regulated environment. As part of the OneSchwab/OneGCC model, this leader is accountable for building mature delivery practices, driving standardization and controls, and developing high-performing teams that deliver measurable impact across Schwab’s global data ecosystem.

What you have

Key Responsibilities:

Core DevOps, DevSecOps & CI/CD Ownership
•Act as the technical owner, leveraging DevOps and DevSecOps expertise to design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud data warehouse and analytics ecosystem platforms.
•Develop automation and processes that enable teams to deploy, manage, configure, scale, and monitor applications efficiently.
•Monitor and maintain the stability, performance, and reliability of CI/CD environments.
•Automating build processes using GitHub, GitHub Actions
•Integrate security and quality controls into CI/CD pipelines, including CodeQL, Veracode, and Sonar.
•Develop custom Python based checks and validations and integrate them into CI/CD workflows to enforce standards and reduce risk.

Cloud Platform Engineering & Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
•Deliver solutions in complex, distributed system environments, with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform and enterprise data ecosystems, including ETL, BI, and data governance platforms.
•Manage and maintain build and deployment infrastructure, including Bamboo agents, SDKs, service accounts, and keys, certificates on Unix based build servers.
•Partnering with development and platform/prod support teams to identify and resolve deployment issues
Collaborating with other members of the DevOps team to achieve common goals
•Drive continuous improvements to deployment processes, platform reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
•Stay current with emerging DevOps, SRE, and cloud technology trends; evaluate and adopt new tools and practices where appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

Technical Expertise and Educational Requirements

Required Experience
•8+ years CICD Automation: Hand-on experience building CICD pipelines forGCP technologies (BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Cloud Run, PubSub) or Bamboo, Bitbucket, or GitHub & GitHub Actions. Managing code repositories in Bitbucket,Github, Jenkins, Airflow, Cloud Build etc. Automating build processes including DevSecOps (Code QL, Veracode, BlackDuck, Sonar) in SDLC. Experience with schema management products like Liquibase or SQL Server Integration Services
•5+ years Automation & Scripting: Proficient in Python or one of the following scripting languages: Java, Bash, Perl, and PowerShell.
•3+ years Infrastructure Management: Lead the design, provisioning, scaling, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices, Terraform or Ansible, to automate and optimize Cloud and on-prem resources. Hands-on experience performing software patching and Linux/Unix platform upgrades, including JDK, VPE, and SDK components.
•3+ years Technical Oversight: Provide technical leadership and develop automation for application development and operation teams. Take end to end ownership for DevOps & SRE engineering ensuring best practices in cloud and on-prem are followed.
•2-3+ years SRE: Experience with Splunk, Cloud Logging, Grafana and other monitoring or reporting tools
•5+ years Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to forge strong relationships and coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders and actively communicate updates to development, admin, and relevant support teams, management. Attitude that fosters a culture of collaboration and teamwork. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and with cross-functional technical and business teams
•Flexible to support shift-based work on a rotational basis, including on-call support.

•Hands-on experience configuring, migrating, and troubleshooting Public Cloud Foundry (PCF) applications through CI/CD pipelines.

Skills and Attributes
•Advanced Python skills for scripting and automation, with experience handling the complexities of cloud-native environments
•Delivering solutions in a complex environment including distributed systems and applications focused on Google Cloud, and ETL (IICS, Informatica Cloud), BI and data governance platforms
•Experience with ETL products like Informatica PowerCenter or Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) and Talend
•Critical-thinking and strong problem-solving skills with ability to analyze and understand data
•Functional knowledge of financial banking, stock brokerage or insurance domains is preferred
•Experience working in Agile team, familiar with Scrum and Kanban process
•Developing automation and processes to enable teams to deploy, manage, configure, scale, and monitor their applications. Monitor and maintain the stability and performance of the various CICD environments
•Partnering with development and platform/prod support teams to identify and resolve deployment issues
•Bringing a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new DevOps technologies, and mentor junior members of the team.

Preferred Qualifications:

8+ years of progressive experience in DevOps, DataSecOps, data engineering and automation.
•Experience with GCP technologies and services will be strongly preferred.
•Experience developing and managing cross-enterprise applications in financial services can be a key differentiator
