Role Description

The STS Business Manager serves as the operational and analytical backbone for the leadership team, ensuring strategic priorities are translated into disciplined execution. The role drives organizational rhythms, business reviews, financial planning and analysis, workforce planning, leadership reporting, communications, and governance activities that enable informed decision-making and organizational alignment.

The successful candidate will partner closely with Technology Leaders, Finance, HR, Talent Acquisition, Risk, Compliance, Vendor Management, Communications, and other enterprise stakeholders to execute business objectives with clarity, transparency, and measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Facilitate development and execution of organizational strategy, annual priorities, and operating plans.
  • Translate leadership objectives into initiatives, milestones, performance measures, and clear accountabilities.
  • Monitor progress against strategic priorities, identify execution gaps, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives and maintain alignment across stakeholders and interdependent teams.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Lead and coordinate annual budgeting, periodic forecasting, long-range planning, and financial outlook processes for the supported STS organization.
  • Analyze actuals against budget and forecast, explain material variances, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to leadership.
  • Develop financial models, scenarios, and business cases to support investment, capacity, sourcing, and prioritization decisions.
  • Partner with Finance and business leaders to monitor run-rate, expenses, headcount, vendor spend, and investment performance.
  • Prepare leadership-ready financial dashboards and monthly or quarterly business review materials that connect financial performance with operational outcomes.
  • Identify cost optimization opportunities, track benefits realization, and strengthen financial controls, data quality, and planning discipline.

Business Operations & Governance

  • Establish and manage leadership operating cadences, governance forums, business reviews, and executive updates.
  • Develop executive-ready scorecards, presentations, dashboards, and decision materials.
  • Drive action tracking, decision management, issue escalation, and follow-through across leadership teams.
  • Improve the consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness of governance processes and reporting mechanisms.

Workforce Strategy & Talent Planning

  • Partner with leadership, HR, Finance, and Talent Acquisition to support workforce planning and organizational design.
  • Track headcount, hiring, onboarding, attrition, capacity, location, and talent-related metrics.
  • Integrate workforce assumptions into financial forecasts and resource plans.
  • Analyze workforce trends and provide insights to support talent, capability, and succession decisions.

Executive Communications & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop executive communications, leadership messaging, town halls, organizational updates, and presentations.
  • Prepare concise briefing materials for senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
  • Enable timely and consistent communication of organizational priorities, decisions, and business outcomes.
  • Build trusted relationships and influence outcomes across a complex, matrixed organization.

Business Insights, Reporting & Transformation

  • Develop and maintain operational and financial dashboards, KPIs, and performance metrics.
  • Analyze business data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and improvement areas.
  • Drive reporting automation, process simplification, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support organizational transformation through readiness planning, stakeholder engagement, and execution tracking.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10-12+ years of experience in Business Management, Financial Planning & Analysis, Strategy, PMO, Operations, Consulting, Program Management, or related disciplines.
  • Experience supporting senior executives or technology leadership teams in a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial modeling, and management reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives and translate strategy into execution.
  • Strong executive communication, presentation development, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, including the ability to operate without direct authority.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with experience using reporting or business intelligence tools.
