Role Description

The Sr. Manager (IC), Data Tools will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the next generation of data innovation at Schwab. This position leads the design, development, and delivery of cutting-edge data automation tools and full-stack applications within Schwab Data India, driving scalable, high-impact solutions across the Schwab Data organization.

The Schwab Data Tools team is at the forefront of innovation, building and managing modern data solutions such as data lineage platforms, automated data quality testing frameworks, and AI-assisted data engineering tools. These solutions empower hundreds of ETL developers by streamlining workflows, improving data reliability, and accelerating time-to-market.

What you have

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Delivery

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of full-stack web applications using Python and Angular / React.
• Drive architecture decisions and technical solution design for data automation tools.
• Leverage AI and Generative AI technologies to accelerate application development, automate repetitive tasks, and drive operational efficiency across the Data Tools portfolio.
• Design, present, and align technical solutions to Schwab Data architects and senior technical leadership.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable with clear technical documentation.
• Establish coding standards, best practices, and engineering excellence across the Data Tools team.
• Own end-to-end delivery of assigned projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with Schwab Data standards.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Create and deliver presentations and demos to senior leadership, project sponsors, and technical peers.
• Support project planning, estimation, and delivery timelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product owners, QA, and DevOps.
• Partner with U.S.-based Data Tools team to ensure alignment, knowledge transfer, and consistent delivery quality.

Operational Excellence

• Implement scalable, compliant, and AI-assisted delivery frameworks tailored for a regulated financial services environment, driving faster time-to-market and improved engineering efficiency.
• Drive intelligent automation, retrospectives, and service reviews using AI-enabled insights to deliver measurable quality improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Ensure adherence to Schwab’s privacy, security, and regulatory standards while embedding automation and controls to proactively manage risk and compliance.
• Optimize team capacity and delivery performance through agile methodologies, data-driven decision-making, and planning to maximize productivity and throughput.

Required Qualifications

Technical Expertise and Educational Requirements

• Minimum 12 years of hands-on experience in software development with a focus on building tools and applications.
• Strong expertise in Python and Angular/React in application development.
• Proven experience designing technical solutions and presenting them to architects for review and approval.
• Proven experience leveraging AI-assisted development practices to enhance developer productivity, automate workflows, and deliver scalable, high-quality solutions efficiently.
• 8+ years of experience with relational databases and writing complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
• 3+ years of experience managing or leading development teams.
• Practical experience working with distributed/offshore teams and driving delivery quality.
• Experience in data engineering, ETL processes, or Schwab data platforms is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and CI/CD practices.
• Experience managing environments, including certificates, upgrades required for servers, and related platform maintenance.
