Your opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location.

We are looking for a skilled engineer with disciplines that incorporate
aspects of software systems engineering and operations. We are combining these
skills to come up with better ways of managing and operating applications.

What you’ll do:

Engineering Delivery & Technical Contribution

• Contribute to technical execution of team priorities, supporting both operational stability and
automation initiatives under guidance of senior engineers.
• Assist in investigating and resolving complex technical issues, learning to analyze situations
and apply sound judgment to determine appropriate approaches.
• Begin developing an SRE mindset by learning to identify and address operational problems
systematically.

Operations & Incident Management

• Participate in production operations support for Cloud and Login Platforms — including
incident triage, root cause analysis, and remediation activities.
• Triage and respond to alerts under guidance, learning to diagnose and resolve issues with
minimal risk and clear communication.
• Follow and contribute to standard operational processes, KPIs, and practices that maintain
platform availability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Build familiarity with processes and controls that meet regulatory and security guidelines
applicable to financial institution platforms.
• Identify operational inefficiencies and propose improvements, contributing to measurable
stability gains.
• Participate in on-call support rotation for mission-critical application workflows.

Automation & AI/ML-Driven Operations

• Assist in building and maintaining production automation solutions that reduce manual toil
and improve operational throughput.
• Learn to leverage AI/ML capabilities to enhance automation pipelines, observability, and
proactive operational responses.

• Contribute to expanding automation coverage across deployment, monitoring, alerting, and
self-healing workflows for Cloud and Login Platforms.
• Help build and maintain application dashboards for proactive monitoring and set up alerts for
early issue determination.
• Develop and maintain tools and instrumentation that support application rollout validation
and operational visibility.
• Explore and apply AI/ML-based approaches (e.g., anomaly detection, predictive alerting) to
improve platform reliability under team guidance.
• Support CI/CD pipeline maintenance and contribute to reducing friction in software delivery
processes.
• Assist with capacity planning activities using data and trend analysis.
Collaboration & Cross-functional Contribution
• Work alongside engineers, platform teams, and business partners to deliver technical
solutions aligned with platform objectives.
• Document solutions and share learnings to contribute to team knowledge and capability.
• Support continuous improvement efforts by contributing to process refinements and
efficiency improvements in project deliveries and ongoing support activities.
