We are seeking a Senior Product Manager (individual contributor), to join the Data Platform Product Management team and guide the growth and adoption of Schwab data platforms. Our mandate is leading the planning, growth, and usage of data-intensive platforms and products, powered with integrated data and applied insights, fueling business objectives.

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of business and technical savvy; the ability to understand the business needs and translate them to many product teams. You must be hands-on, be able to work with both technical and business partners to get into the details and clearly refine requirements and keep work moving in a timely manner.  Project management experience, attention to detail, clear communication and organization are highly valued skills for this role. 

What you’ll be responsible for:

You are responsible for supporting our team of SMEs through planning and execution throughout the Product Lifecycle, including gathering and prioritizing business requirements, facilitating business design sessions, and working closely with stakeholders to understand progress, risk, issues, and decisions made across the program.  The Sr. Manager’s job also includes preparing material for and supporting the facilitation of quarterly planning, roadmaps and maintaining JIRA and Confluence. Additionally, you will also be assigned a data platform to support as a Subject Matter Expert, enabling your business partners advance their data needs.

What you’ll do:
•           You will guide and craft the data platform vision, strategy, and roadmap which aligns to client needs and business goals. This will involve articulating key features, attributes, and User Experience (UX) needed to increase ROI and customer satisfaction of the platform
•           As a functional and technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will deeply understand the business problems the platform is intended to solve and guide and influence key stakeholders to make the platform better and easier to manage
•           Taking a user-centric approach you will guide platform development and feature prioritization and craft and manage an actionable roadmap
•           Facilitate ongoing planning working sessions, refinement meetings and other critical planning meetings that lead to decision making and alignment
•           Collect business requirements, develop user stories, define acceptance criteria, and coordinate business acceptance testing
•           Be an effective communicator, with ability to highlight the challenges we are solving for, articulate the target state, and help stakeholders navigate the obstacles to be crossed
•           Support value measurement and adoption metrics to communicate the business impact of the platform
•           Influence structure and routines for our organization that improves our overall operating model through planning and resource orchestration
•           Ensure proper hygiene of our JIRA backlog, create reports and visuals that represent progress and status of refinement, design and delivery
•           Independently forge and strengthen relationships with partners and peers through ongoing one-on-ones and working sessions to resolve open issues

What you have


Required Qualifications

•           5+ years of work experience, including 3+ years of project or product management experience
•           Bachelor’s degree
•           Documented experience with JIRA, Confluence and project management tools
•           Demonstrated collaborative style, with ability to lead and influence diverse teams
•           Strong communication skills and with high-level of comfort leading meetings and facilitating very active working sessions, especially with business and technology partners present
•           Ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment while introducing structure and frameworks for problem-solving
•           Excellent collaborator who thrives on working with others in a matrixed organizational environment

Preferred Qualifications

•           Familiarity with Google BigQuery

•           Active listener who can synthesize many details and is not afraid to “go into the weeds” to solve problems

•           Self-starter mindset with a willingness to jump in and learn, make quick decisions, and pivot towards better solutions when needed
•           Flexible and comfortable with change as business and organization is undergoing transformation

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
