Your opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

We are Creative Center (C2), Schwab’s award-winning in-house agency that creates and produces a wide range of external and internal communications for Schwab. We are uniquely positioned to grow client relationships, attract new clients, and bring innovative products to market effectively and efficiently.  Our passion to bring our best thinking forward everyday drives our success.

The Brand Strategy & Expression group is responsible for the development and socialization of the Brand Identity as well as oversight of all Schwab brand assets. This includes building and protecting the brand with internal and external stakeholders; developing and stewarding the brand guidelines; and managing the photography, illustration and other visual elements used by the brand.

We are currently seeking a Brand Digital Asset Manager, who is passionate about brands, Digital Asset Management, photography, illustration, taxonomy, organization & socialization.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in Austin, TX.

Job Summary:

This role uniquely positioned within the Brand organization, responsible for managing and evolving Schwab’s visual asset ecosystem—including photography, executive portraiture and headshots, iconography, illustration, sonic, motion, and AI-assisted visuals. It blends design and photography expertise with brand governance and innovation, ensuring all visual assets meet brand standards, are high-quality, scalable, and used responsibly.

The role sets guidelines, partners closely with internal and external creative teams, establishes clear standards for when and how AI is used in this space. This individual ensures that all visual assets—whether human-created, vendor-produced, or AI-assisted—are brand-safe, on-brand, and consistently expressed across channels, positioning AI as a purposeful accelerator rather than a shortcut.

What you’ll do:

  1. Brand Visual Asset Ownership & Oversight
  • Support the creation, ongoing maintenance, and production of Schwab’s exclusive visual asset system, including photography, visual motifs, iconography, illustration, sonic elements, and branded design components.
  • Collaborate closely with creative teams md firm marketing partners to develop new assets that reflect current brand standards and evolving needs.
  • Define and maintain brand-approved visual standards, usage guidelines, and future evolution paths.
  • Lead the acquisition and development of licensed media assets across photography, illustration, and sonic.
  • Act as a visual authority, reviewing and approving assets before they scale across platforms.
  • Ensure consistency and quality across internally created assets, vendor work, and partner-generated visuals.
  • Collaborate with internal and external content creators to guide proper brand application.
  • Manage daily usage rights requests (URRs) to ensure legal and licensing compliance.
  • Own and maintain the Bynder taxonomy for all Brand assets, including photography, illustration, and iconography.
  • Lead metadata strategy, including keyword structure and asset organization across the Brand Identity system.
  • Organize digital assets and maintain curated collections for ease of access and usability.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders and business leaders to structure and scale Brand asset organization.
  • Oversee the full content lifecycle, from creation through distribution and retirement, leveraging DAM tools and insights.
  • Coordinate pre-production planning and procurement of artwork (photography, illustration, sonic) to support brand initiatives.
  • Support vendor relationships, including bid coordination and contract/paperwork management.
  • Document and report on asset usage, leveraging data from Bynder.
  • Analyze DAM data to inform creative and content strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, processes, and overall DAM effectiveness.
  • Make recommendations to enhance department operations and asset performance.

  1. AI-Enabled Visual Strategy & Governance
  • Lead the intentional integration of AI tools into the brand’s visual ecosystem.
  • Define how, when, and where AI-generated or AI-assisted visuals are appropriate within brand standards.
  • Establish governance frameworks for:
    • AI-generated imagery
    • AI-assisted illustration and icon creation
    • AI-modified or extended visual content
  • Ensure AI outputs are reviewed, refined, and adapted to meet brand quality, accessibility, and compliance standards.

  1. Brand-Safe AI Exploration & Enablement
  • Explore emerging AI design capabilities with a brand-first lens, identifying opportunities that enhance speed, flexibility, and creative exploration.
  • Partner with design, UX, brand strategy, legal, and governance teams to ensure AI usage is:
    • Ethically sound
    • Legally compliant
    • Aligned with brand values and visual expression

  • Translate AI experimentation into clear guidance, tools, and workflows for teams.

  1. Vendor & Partner Design Leadership
  • Partner with external vendors, photographers, and agencies to ensure work aligns with brand visual systems.
  • Provide creative direction and guardrails, not just feedback.
  • Review, refine, and approve externally produced assets before they enter the brand ecosystem.
  • Ensure vendors understand how AI is (and is not) used within brand standards.
  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Enablement
  • Work closely with Brand, Creative, UX, Digital, and Platform teams to integrate visual assets consistently across channels.
  • Support brand training, office hours, and enablement efforts related to visual systems and AI usage.
  • Act as a bridge between creative craft and scalable systems, helping teams move faster without eroding brand integrity.

What you have

To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

  • Strong foundation as a designer, photographer or art director, with deep understanding of visual systems, Digital Asset Management and brand expression.
  • Demonstrated design leadership—able to set direction, not just execute.
  • Deep familiarity with photography systems, including photo editing software, and visual language development. Includes color correction, sizing, and skin smoothing.
  • Practical understanding of AI design tools and workflows, paired with strong judgment about when not to use them.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate internally and externally.
  • Solid PowerPoint skills
  • Strong Photoshop (retouching) skills.
  • Comfortable operating in an oversight, governance, and enablement model, not hands-on production all day.
  • Strong collaborator with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Atleast 1 year of Schwab Brand experience gained as a current or recent contractor or employee
