The Schwab Technology Services (STS) Portfolio & Project Management (PPM) organization partners with Business and Technology Leaders to prioritize and execute technology work for strategic business sponsored initiatives, enhancements, as well as standard technology operations, production support, and technology enablement to ensure STS capacity is focused on the most important work for the company.

What you’ll do: 

As a IT Project Manager, you will establish and lead medium-to-large, cross-functional technology initiatives that support strategic business priorities and operational excellence. 

You will leverage your project leadership, stakeholder partnership, communication, problem-solving, financial management, and strategic planning skills to help teams deliver high-quality outcomes while navigating complexity and ambiguity. 

In this role, you will: 

  • Lead enterprise-wide technology initiatives from planning through execution and delivery.
  • Establish clear project objectives, scope, milestones, success metrics, and delivery plans. 
  • Partner with business and technology leaders to align priorities and drive strategic outcomes.
  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders, sponsors, product owners, engineering teams, and delivery partners.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, risks, dependencies, and change activities. 
  • Develop and maintain integrated project plans that provide visibility into progress, milestones, and execution risks. 
  • Facilitate decision-making, problem-solving, and stakeholder alignment across highly matrixed teams.
  • Partner with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to support Agile delivery practices and track development progress.
  • Forecast and reconcile project expenditures, resource allocations, and financial assumptions.
  • Identify risks, mitigate roadblocks, and proactively manage project interdependencies. 
  • Coach, mentor, and support team members to promote effective project execution and team success.
  • Drive accountability for commitments while ensuring delivery aligns to agreed-upon quality, timeline, and business objectives.

  • Communication & Leadership: You will communicate with clarity and confidence across technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring stakeholders remain informed, engaged, and aligned throughout project delivery. 
  • Financial & Resource Stewardship:  You will leverage financial acumen and resource planning capabilities to forecast budgets, manage expenditures, and optimize team capacity. 

What you have


Required qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of project management experience leading multiple medium to large, complex, cross-functional technology initiatives. 
  • 5+ years of experience managing projects within product development, systems implementation, application development, infrastructure, or technical environments.
  • 5+ years of experience utilizing project management tools and delivery artifacts, including Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Microsoft Project, project budgets, change management documentation, and status reporting. 
  • Demonstrated experience with project planning, scope management, risk management, dependency management, financial forecasting, and resource planning.
  • Ability to build trusted partnerships with sponsors, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to drive successful outcomes.
  • Experience leading teams through ambiguity, influencing decisions, resolving conflicts, and delivering results in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Applied experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and agile delivery practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 



Preferred Skills:

  • Experience within the financial services industry.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, or comparable project management certification.
  • Experience supporting Agile and Scrum-based delivery teams.
  • Experience managing technology portfolios, large enterprise programs, or strategic transformation initiatives.
  • Exposure to Generative Artificial Intelligence solutions, capabilities, or implementation efforts.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, or developing project team members and delivery partners.
