Your opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s). This role is expected to be in the office 4 days a week.

Schwab Technology Services enables the future of how clients manage their money by providing innovative and reliable technology products and services as part of our ongoing commitment to democratize access to investing and financial planning.

The team sits within a newly formed Portfolio & Project Management organization, which oversees portfolios across the company.

As an IT Project Manager supporting Schwab’s Advisor Services organization, you’ll play a critical role in driving enterprise-wide, cross‑functional initiatives that directly support the success of independent financial advisors and the clients they serve.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of strategy, technology, and innovation, as Schwab continues its transition to a Scaled Agile (SAFe) model. You’ll partner with passionate, high-performing teams to deliver solutions that matter — while growing your career in a collaborative, inclusive, and purpose‑driven environment. Successful candidates will have strong skills in building strong partnerships, influencing, and accountability.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and deliver enterprise-wide strategic initiatives, spanning business, operational, and technology outcomes.
  • Drive projects across a variety of areas, including new product and service launches, application development, systems integration, operational efficiency, and infrastructure modernization.
  • Own the full project lifecycle — from planning and execution through delivery — ensuring outcomes are high quality, clearly scoped, and tied to measurable business value.
  • Manage medium to large, complex initiatives involving multiple internal teams and external partners.
  • Rigorously manage scope, risks, dependencies, timelines, and budgets to ensure commitments are met.
  • Partner closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Release Train Engineers to support Agile delivery and milestones.
  • Forecast and manage resource capacity in collaboration with resource managers, reconciling actuals against plans.
  • Build and maintain integrated delivery plans, defining and tracking key milestones and progress.
  • Proactively identify and resolve risks, issues, and stakeholder conflicts with professionalism and clarity.
  • Foster strong team relationships, coaching and mentoring team members to remove roadblocks and enable success.
  • Communicate effectively with sponsors and stakeholders, delivering tough messages with transparency and respect.

What you have

To ensure that we fulfill our promise of “challenging the status quo,” this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have:

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-8 + years of project management experience leading multiple medium to large, complex, cross‑functional initiatives — ideally in product development, systems, or technical environments.
  • 5–8 years of hands-on experience with project management tools and artifacts (MS Project, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, budgets, change requests, status reporting, etc.).
  • Experience managing a concurrent project portfolio of at least $2M.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment, including working as or directly with a Release Train Engineer.
  • Proven ability to mobilize and motivate teams, set direction, resolve conflict, and influence without authority.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with the ability to quickly earn trust with sponsors and senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex, high‑impact initiatives from concept through execution.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background/experience in financial services industry, especially advisor services, strongly preferred.
  • Experience using Rally.
  • PMP or PMI-ACP certification.
  • RTE certification.
  • Generative Artificial Intelligence experience.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
