Your opportunity

Director, Marketing AI COE & Process

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

Marketing Technology & Enablement drives the capabilities that enable Marketing to scale. We connect strategy, technology, data, AI, operations, and execution into an integrated ecosystem that improves marketer productivity, simplifies execution, strengthens governance, and accelerates business outcomes. Our mission is to ensure Schwab's marketing organization has the tools, platforms, processes, and expertise required to deliver exceptional client experiences while operating with greater efficiency and agility.

This team serves as the Marketing Center of Excellence (COE) to build fluency, drive efficiency and improve effectiveness using AI. They are also responsible for defining and optimizing how marketing work gets done. The team leverages process governance, automation and AI to create scalable, efficient, and compliant ways of working that improve marketing performance, accelerate innovation, and maximize business value across the organization.

In this role, you will:

  • Own the strategy and roadmap for Marketing AI, with focus on developing a GenAI COE for Marketing
  • Build and manage the AI use case pipeline — intake, prioritization, value sizing, and measurement of realized benefit.
  • Drive AI fluency and adoption at scale through enablement, training, office hours, and community-building across a spectrum from advanced builders to reluctant adopters.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor — turning complexity into clear decisions, trade-offs, and direction.
  • Establish and mature Marketing process governance, including intake, prioritization, operating routines, decision rights, standards, and controls that create consistency, improve transparency, and reduce execution risk across teams.
  • Lead process transformation efforts partnering across Marketing, Technology, Operations, and Risk to simplify workflows, clarify ownership, improve handoffs, and deliver measurable gains in speed, quality, and marketer experience.
  • Drive scale and efficiency by aligning data, process, and platforms to current and future marketing needs.
  • Use data and insights to track performance, manage risk, and continuously improve key lifecycle capabilities.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team to deliver outcomes through a matrixed environment.

What you have

Required:

  • 10–15 years in marketing technology, marketing operations, or process/program leadership, including direct experience owning marketing processes and leading technology-, automation-, and AI-enabled transformation in a large, matrixed organization with measurable business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience putting AI and GenAI into practical production use — identifying high-value use cases, building and testing prompts, agents, and workflows, and moving pilots into scaled, sustained adoption with measurable business results.
  • Ability to build AI fluency across a broad audience — from advanced builders to reluctant adopters — through enablement, training, office hours, and clear standards for responsible, compliant use in a regulated environment.
  • Hands-on experience working within marketing execution — campaign development, creative and content production, review and approval, and delivery — with a clear understanding of where friction, rework, and risk occur.
  • Proven ownership of end-to-end marketing processes, including documentation, intake and prioritization, decision rights, controls, and the operating routines required to sustain them at scale.
  • Track record of optimizing processes using technology, workflow automation, and integration across platforms to remove manual steps, reduce cycle time, and improve quality and consistency.
  • Applied lean and agile thinking — value stream mapping, waste elimination, iterative delivery, and continuous improvement — supported by metrics that show measurable gains in speed, capacity, and marketer experience.
  • Prior direct people leadership experience (hiring, performance management, coaching, and development).
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate marketer needs into clear capability requirements and roadmaps.
  • Experience preparing and delivering presentations, with strong executive-level storytelling.
  • Challenger mindset: continuously improve scale, efficiency, and marketer experience.
  • Passion for marketing technology and enabling modern, high-impact marketing experiences.
