The Operational Services Finance team provides financial analysis and strategic decision support for Schwab’s Operational Services enterprise.  The team helps business partners drive operational leverage and scale by delivering rigorous analysis, enterprise-level insights, and clear performance reporting.

This Manager role is a close strategic business advisor and partner to Retirement Operations, Core Infrastructure Platform & Specialty Operations (CIPS), and Operations Admin.  The role also assists with consolidation for Operational Services Finance.  The role provides financial oversight and decision support through close business partnership, risk identification, strategic solution evaluation and financial planning and reporting.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and maintain financial plans, partnering closely with business partners to create detailed forecasts aligned to strategic goals

  • Facilitate financial close activities to analyze and explain monthly, quarterly, and annual variances to budget, forecast, and prior years

  • Engage with business leaders across multiple management levels and geographic locations

  • Assist with Operational Services Finance consolidation for monthly close, as well as quarterly forecasts and annual planning.  Coordinate across the team to maintain clear lines of communication and accurate reporting of financial results.

  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting, increasing transparency, and consistency

  • Establish and communicate a finance "point of view" based on objective, fact- based analysis that is valued by business leaders

  • Perform ad-hoc analyses related to understanding business trends, and financial performance

  • Ensure rigor, drive efficiency, and promote process excellence and continuous improvement with core financial processes

What you have

Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field)

  • 4-6 years of progressive experience in FP&A-related roles

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Proven ability to build strong relationships across management levels and communicate complex financial concepts to senior audiences.

  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling

  • Strong proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling.  Experience with ERP software or similar tools such as IBM Planning Analytics.

  • Great analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate both the tactical and strategic context of business strategies and targeted outcomes

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines
