Your opportunity

At Charles Schwab, our purpose is simple: we champion client’s goals with passion and integrity. Guided by honesty, mutual respect and a commitment to doing what’s right, we bring innovation, education, and service together to help shape financial futures. Our people are the foundation of our success – they approach their work with curiosity and collaboration, coming together to create solutions that make a meaningful impact for clients and communities. As we expand into India, we are bringing this same culture of inclusion, learning, and opportunity to new talent. Joining us means becoming part of a global team where your work matters and your future can take shape.

Our Hyderabad location is central to Schwab’s growth, bringing together talented people and technology to drive innovation, scale and efficiency. Here, you will work alongside teams who create solutions that support millions of clients every day. The work you do is more than daily operations – it’s a chance to experiment, learn, and build within a values-driven, supportive environment. This is a unique opportunity to be part of our early growth phase and shape something new, backed by the stability and strength of a Fortune 500 company. Your impact begins on day one, and your contributions will help define our future in the region.

The Tax & Cost Basis Technology (TCT) team is responsible for producing the firm’s Tax documents and Cost Basis data. Our team provides these important forms and data to downstream systems, channels, regulators, and clients. As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you will drive automation strategy, ensure product quality and collaborate with developers and product owners to accelerate delivery in an agile environment. At Schwab, innovation meets purpose. We empower technologists to challenge the status quo and deliver solutions that transform the financial industry.
You are a passionate technologist who self-identifies as an engineer and who can speak confidently to senior developers. You know how to write clean code, and you recognize that poorly designed automation code is as much a concern as poorly designed application code.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust test automation frameworks for distributed systems.

  • Develop and maintain automated test suites for APIs, UI, and integration layers.

  • Collaborate with developers to embed quality practices into the SDLC.

  • Monitor and optimize continuous testing pipelines; analyze failures and drive resolutions.

  • Mentor Junior engineers on best practices in automation and Agile testing.

  • Participate in technical governance and contribute to product readiness decisions.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to define QA tooling and technical roadmap.

What you have

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years in software development and test automation.

  • Strong programming skills in Java or C#.

  • Experience with test automation frameworks such as Cucumber, Selenium, JMeter, Junit/TestNG.

  • Hands-on experience with API testing (REST/XML or REST/JSON) and performance testing tools.

  • Working knowledge with Agile Methodologies, TDD/BDD, GitHub and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Working knowledge with one or more databases (e.g., MongoDB, Oracle) and messaging frameworks (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka) is desirable.

  • Experience with Angular or similar front end framework is a plus.

  • Having a tester’s mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills and a self-learner.
