We are looking for a Software Engineer that will build and enhance our tech stack to support Charles Schwab Bank's Lending products across both Home Mortgages and Securities-based Lending such as our flagship "Pledged Asset Line" product.  This role will immerse themselves in our tech stack (Spring Boot / Java) while harnessing GitHub CoPilot to drive "forward thinking" ways of building software.  Our Bank Technology team (Lending) oversees complex integration across SaaS providers and our core Lending platforms (System of record) for both Loan Origination and Servicing use cases.  You'll support product offerings that provide liquidity to clients with a diverse range of asset classes held at Schwab.   If you’re looking to bring your expertise to a firm that will provide consistent challenges, promoting development and ownership of your career, this is the role for you.

• Design, develop, and deliver solutions as part of an Agile Scrum team.
• Leverage understanding of software development principles and practices to help mentor and coach junior team members.
• Support and triage issues and participate in production support to help develop resilient and secure systems to prevent issues that impact our clients.
• Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to define strategy and scope of software requirements (decompose stories, design features, and prioritize tasks).
• Delivering new concepts and features, working alongside development peers and product owners in an agile environment.
• Utilize automated software test tools and frameworks such as test-driven development to achieve the highest quality in software delivery.
• Drive the low level design of software components and libraries used to implement business use cases.

What you have

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years developing with Java.
• 2+ years working with REST/SOAP Services or SpringBatch / Spring Cloud Data Foundary.
• 1+ year working with large data and experience analyzing and improving efficiency.
• 2+ years of experience designing and coding using object-oriented principles.
• 2+ years of experience in database principles, such as SQL, Oracle, Mongo DB or Hadoop.
• Experience with Agile Development Practices, Scrum.
• Strong written and verbal communications, collaboration, and problem-solving skills are necessary.
• Ability to communicate effectively with business partners and technology teams.
• Self-starter who can grasp difficult concepts and large architectures quickly.
• Experience with unit testing and history of successful interaction with a QA group.
• Experience supporting releases for and applications in production.
• BS or MS in computer science or related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of design principles and standards, CI/CD pipelines, Unit Testing, test cases.

• Knowledge of Banking technology, with a preference in Lending/Mortgage related processes.
• Complex vendor integrations via files, APIs, and streams.
