Charles Schwab Trust Bank, provides trust, custody, trading, and technical services to retirement plan sponsors, investment advisors, independent recordkeepers, and third-party administrators (TPAs) through the Trust and Custody Services Division of Charles Schwab Bank, Charles Schwab & Co., Inc.

The Conversion Team is one of the first lines of contact for retirement clients at Schwab, we are responsible for onboarding new retirement business to Charles Schwab Trust Bank and setting up various products and services the clients will utilize including investment, paying agent and data and reporting needs. The Conversion Analyst is responsible for taking ownership of assigned new account opportunities to ensure exceptional client and partner experiences from initial inquiry through appointment of Schwab as successor custodian and paying agent.  This includes speaking with clients and attorneys; as well as partnering with internal partners to ensure key information and documentation is collected and set up for the accounts.

will support the needs of the clients that are transitioning new retirement plan business to Schwab while providing seamless and positive experience for independent recordkeeper and advisor clients.

What you’ll do:

The Conversion Specialist will have consultative communications with clients and other support business partners, utilizing various applications to set up retirement plans on the Trust Bank platform. This individual will schedule client meetings, assist recordkeeper and investment advisor clients with in-kind asset transfers from prior custodians, collect and review of required new account agreements and fund attachment paperwork, and work with various internal teams to ensure accounts are set up with all necessary products and services. 

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, containing both attention to detail and outside the box thinking is a must. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively within a team environment and be able to lead client calls. In this position, you will need to have retirement business and investment knowledge to be able to hit the ground running.

What you have


The following attributes are keys to success in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or related area preferred
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ financial services experience in a client facing role operations ideally with investment advisor firm or employee benefit plans providing trust/custody or recordkeeping services
  • Moderate understanding of rules governing qualified retirement plans, ERISA, and DOL
  • Moderate understanding of investments, trading, and transfer of assets
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills with ability to organize and prioritize
  • Ability to project manage and lead client meetings that encompass multiple accounts, transfers, and documents
  • Demonstrated analytical skills that include the ability to research provide accurate backup documentation for the QC’er/ auditors and resolve aging transfer request issues until completion.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications including but not limited to Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Ability to utilize several different applications simultaneously, including Microsoft Office, internet, CRM’s database systems, and email
  • Moderate experience and knowledge of Salesforce, SmartSheet, an/or DocuSign
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to research problems, determine root causes and solutions
  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities without sacrificing quality or accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and meet daily and other required deadlines.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
